AT Physician

The island location requires the resources of a large hospital while simultaneously offering the proximity and cohesion of a smaller hospital. Within healthcare on Gotland, these close collaborations develop quickly. Decision-making processes are short, creating efficiency for patients and staff. We collaborate with Karolinska University Hospital for centralized care. The healthcare organization is small and familial, with great interest in each new group of AT physicians. There is good collaboration between primary care, psychiatry, and inpatient somatic care, which creates excellent conditions for AT training. Your Responsibilities The position includes the following placements: • Operating specialties (surgical block) - six months • Internal medicine specialties (medical block) - six months • Psychiatry - three months • General practice - six months Total training time 21 months. General practice is the final placement during the position; otherwise the order can vary. During the surgical block, there is an opportunity to observe at another surgical unit or radiology for one to two weeks. During the medical block, you will work at the infectious disease clinic and have the opportunity to observe at other medical units, such as the pediatric clinic. The general practice placement can be done at a health center in Visby or in a populated area in the Gotland countryside. You will have a supervisor for each main placement. Each AT group has two mentors who follow the group throughout the entire employment period and meet monthly. You have a validated medical degree or are expected to obtain a validated degree before taking office. An employment contract cannot be written until the degree is verified with the issuing university. You have good knowledge of the Swedish language, corresponding to the requirements of the Swedish Medical Board for Swedish medical licensure. Medical work after graduation with good references, particularly references from a supervisor, is meritorious, as is medical work within Region Gotland with good references. Beyond formal qualifications, we also place great importance on personal maturity, judgment, empathy, ability for self-reflection, and collaboration skills. Furthermore, we see that you are engaged, communicative, have the ability for self-reflection, and that you have leadership qualities.
