The Department of Product Development, Production and Design conducts education and research in areas such as product development, production development, and industrial design. The department is responsible for five educational programs at the Jönköping Campus, as well as two educational programs in Nässjö and Värnamo. The department is strongly committed to advancing research and education in Knowledge-Intensive Product Realization, a strategic focus area at Jönköping University.
The department has approximately 35 dedicated employees working to develop research and education in industrial product realization in close collaboration with industry. The subject of employment is Integrated Product and Production Development with a special focus on automation. The subject addresses the design, implementation, and operation of automated systems in industrial environments. Responsibilities
As an assistant professor, you are expected to contribute to both research and education. The department currently conducts several research and development projects in industrial automation, digitalization, and future production systems in close collaboration with industry.
Depending on your experience and interests, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing projects, develop your own research profile, and initiate and lead new externally funded projects. The position also includes teaching, supervision of student projects and degree work at various levels, examination, and administrative duties.
Courses you are expected to contribute to may include areas such as applied industrial automation, automation and production technology, production development, and fundamental courses in mechanical engineering.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with:
a PhD in automation technology, mechatronics, robotics, production technology, electrical engineering, or another field deemed relevant for the position
documented experience in industrial automation and/or industrial production systems
competence in PLC programming, robot programming, industrial communication protocols, and HMI/SCADA systems
experience in simulation and modeling of production systems and CAD and digital engineering tools
interest in and documented experience with collaboration with industry and other external stakeholders
a flexible and proactive approach where you take initiative, structure, and anchor your work
good collaboration skills and a willingness to contribute to the department's long-term development
good ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
Meritorious qualifications
Experience or competence in any of the following areas is considered meritorious:
sensors and embedded systems
reconfigurable and flexible production systems
general programming competence, particularly Python
computer vision, artificial intelligence, and machine learning
industrial cybersecurity
good ability to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing
