Within the local police area of Skellefteå, there are intervention and crime prevention activities, investigation units, and support services. We are now seeking a detention officer for Skellefteå. Job Responsibilities Your primary task will be to work in our detention facility by receiving and handling persons who are deprived of liberty and being their primary contact during their time in the detention premises. Many individuals are detained for the purpose of investigating crimes, but it can also involve shorter detentions due to, for example, intoxication. You will also work on basic investigative measures in the detention facility as well as other common administrative tasks such as transcription of interviews and other administrative tasks related to evidence management. In addition to the above duties, you may also, if needed, perform other work tasks within internal and external services, for example, work at reception, evidence management, and report taking. Work at other locations within the county may occur. Work pace varies depending on the tasks, and the work can be physically demanding, which requires that you are in good health. Qualifications This is an opportunity for you who have: · Upper secondary school diploma or equivalent education, or education combined with work experience that the employer deems equivalent · Work experience working with and meeting people in vulnerable and/or problematic situations that the employer deems relevant · Category B driving license (for manual transmission vehicles) · Good computer skills · Good ability to express yourself in Swedish both verbally and in writing · Good understanding of the English language and ability to express yourself well in English It is meritorious for the position if you also have: · Current work experience working with persons deprived of liberty, such as in criminal care, detention officer, residential care facilities, security officer, security guard, or other experience that the employer deems relevant · At least 1 year of current work experience working with and meeting people in vulnerable and/or problematic situations that the employer deems relevant · Basic understanding of legal terminology acquired through education or work experience · Language skills other than Swedish or English that the employer deems relevant where you can use the language in your professional practice Personal Qualities As a person, you are self-assured and conduct yourself with maturity and integrity. In stressful situations, you can act calmly, in a controlled manner, and professionally. You apply a high level of security awareness, which means you are reliable in situations where physical violence may occur. As work pace varies and tasks can differ, you must have a flexible approach. Furthermore, you have good teamwork ability and relate to others in a responsive and smooth manner.
