The Police District of Norrbotten is divided into four local police areas: Luleå/Boden, Northern Lapland, Piteå/Älvdal, and Eastern Norrbotten. At the district level there is also an investigations section, a response unit, and a dog unit. Furthermore, there is a district office. The Local Police Area of Luleå/Boden is part of the Police District of Norrbotten. Within the local police area there are response and crime prevention activities, investigation teams, and support and service functions. We are now seeking a Custody Officer for Luleå. Job Responsibilities Your primary task will be to work in our custody facility by receiving and handling persons who are deprived of their liberty and being their closest contact during their time in the custody facility. Many are deprived of liberty in order to investigate crimes, but it can also involve shorter detentions due to, for example, intoxication. You will also work with simple investigative measures in custody as well as other common administrative tasks such as transcription of interviews and other administrative tasks within evidence handling. In addition to the above tasks, you may also, when needed, perform other tasks within internal and external service, for example work at reception, evidence handling, and intake of reports. Work at another location within the county may occur. Work pace varies depending on the tasks and the work can be physically demanding, which requires that you are in good health. Qualifications This is an opportunity for you who have: Upper secondary school diploma or equivalent education, or training combined with work experience that the employer deems equivalent Work experience working with and meeting people in vulnerable and/or problematic situations that the employer deems relevant B-level driver's license (for manually operated vehicles) Good computer skills Good ability to express yourself in Swedish in speech and writing Good understanding of the English language and ability to express yourself well in English It is meritorious for the position if you also have: Current work experience having worked with persons deprived of liberty, such as criminal care, custody officer, HVB/SiS-home, security personnel, security guard, or other experience that the employer deems relevant At least 1 year of current work experience working with and meeting people in vulnerable and/or problematic situations that the employer deems relevant Basic understanding of legal terminology acquired through education or work experience Other language skills beyond Swedish or English that the employer deems relevant where you can use the language in your professional practice Personal Qualities As an employee, you are the face of the police and are expected to work with engagement, accessibility, and efficiency. You will also meet people in a vulnerable position, which places demands on your conduct and your ability to communicate.
