About the Workplace
Addressing future welfare challenges is our great mission. At the labor market administration, we have a crucial responsibility: to enable residents receiving financial assistance to become self-sufficient as quickly as possible, while also helping employers find the right talent.
We meet this challenge with a broad range of adult education programs and labor market initiatives – and we test new ways of working together with the business sector, other departments, authorities, and civil society. To succeed, we must be bold, experiment, and find smart solutions.
We are approximately 400 colleagues at the administration, and our role is to provide residents with the right tools so they can take responsibility for their own development and livelihood.
The Competence Arena Section was established in October 2025. In this section, we work with residents who need work training or work capacity assessments to understand their potential in employment or studies.

Job Responsibilities
An exciting development process is underway at the labor market administration. As an occupational therapist in work training, you will work with residents who need work training and/or work capacity assessments. Your colleagues work directly with residents in practical work and develop their skills in both general labor market knowledge and specific vocational expertise.
In the section, you will also be part of a team with other professional competencies, and together you will identify residents' strengths and development areas so they can find pathways into the labor market. A key to succeeding in our mission is believing in residents' motivation and abilities.
As an occupational therapist, you will assess work capacity based on the individual's overall situation and increase residents' understanding of their work conditions. You will conduct mappings, observations, health interviews, activity and functional assessments, and document the process. You will also work to identify assistive devices that enable residents to move forward in work or studies.
Your responsibilities include:
- clarify work supply and identify adaptation needs
- identify assistive device needs that help residents toward work and studies
- work with standardized occupational therapy instruments such as AWC, AWP, AWP-FK, WEIS, WRI, the Model of Human Occupation theory, and others
- thrive working outdoors and in changing environments
- collaborate with healthcare, the Social Insurance Agency, the Public Employment Service, financial assistance, adult education, etc.
- develop activities related to assessing work capacity
- develop common working methods to increase residents' work capacity and/or map their work capacity
- provide targeted interventions based on your professional expertise in other parts of our organization
Since we work across unit and section boundaries to achieve our goals, you may need to carry out your work in other parts of our organization during certain periods.
