The grounds maintenance unit at Municipal Technology currently manages maintenance and operations of public spaces throughout Malmö on behalf of the Property and Street Office, as well as maintenance of portions of municipal land on behalf of City Properties. The unit's collective responsibilities include emptying paper bins, litter collection, weed removal, street sweeping, trimming of bushes and trees, and planting. The unit also operates its own greenhouse where we cultivate annuals and manage Malmö's municipal flower program.
We are now seeking a supervisor for one of the unit's sanitation teams.
Job Responsibilities
As a supervisor, you will plan, develop, and lead the work of your team consisting of approximately 10-15 employees.
Together with your work team, you will oversee, manage, and develop the city's sanitation services in municipal areas.
You will employ a trust-based management approach that permeates all aspects of the role. You hold personnel and workplace safety responsibility for team members and report to the section manager, who is part of the grounds maintenance leadership group. You will also participate in implementing processes and continuous business development.
Your responsibilities are both administrative and operational. Through partnership with the Property and Street Office, you will jointly prioritize and plan maintenance work with the goal of developing the city.
Beyond team leadership, daily tasks include handling incoming feedback and error reports, serving as a knowledge resource in various projects, preparing documentation, invoicing, budget monitoring, developing sanitation team members, etc.
Qualifications
We seek candidates with:
Completed upper secondary education
Documented leadership experience
Strong administrative skills
Good command of Swedish language, both spoken and written
Good proficiency with MS Office and strong computer skills
Category B driver's license
Meritorious if you have:
University education or other relevant supplementary training for the position
Experience navigating a large organization with high complexity
Experience in large-scale sanitation or green space maintenance

The grounds maintenance unit is part of the Municipal Technology department within the Service Administration, working toward a well-functioning urban environment and offering locally adapted, cost-effective comprehensive solutions for operations, maintenance, care, preparedness, and technical services for streets, parks, and properties.
The Service Administration is divided into five departments and offers everything from transportation services to IT and responding to citizens at Malmö's contact center. We maintain streets, parks, green spaces, and beaches, manage all of Malmö's buildings, and ensure our students receive good and nutritious meals. Together, we are a smart service partner to the city.
