About the Workplace
We're now seeking an engaged support educator for Kärrvägens group home in Nol. Here live tenants with decisions under the LSS (Act Concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments). The operation is built on respect for each individual's self-determination and integrity, and we actively work to create a safe and meaningful everyday life for each person.
As a support educator, you work closely with residents to support their development and independence. Together with your colleagues, you ensure that interventions are implemented according to legislation and that the individual's needs are always at the center.
We use a salutogenic approach, where each individual's everyday life should be understandable, manageable, and meaningful. To strengthen participation and self-determination, we use clarifying pedagogy, low-arousal approaches, and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC).
We strive for continuous development and quality improvement, which means that as a support educator, you have an important role in driving pedagogical processes and strengthening the operation.
Duties
In your role as a support educator, you have a pedagogical responsibility to work with your colleagues to create conditions for residents to have a functioning, structured, and meaningful everyday life.
Your main duties include:
- Plan, implement, and follow up individually tailored interventions based on residents' needs and goals in their implementation plans.
- Lead operational meetings. Use and implement pedagogical methods, such as clarifying pedagogy and AAC, to promote participation and independence.
- Guide, motivate, and support colleagues in using these methods and approaches.
- Document interventions and follow up on individual goals in the Treserva system.
- Work with low-arousal approaches and find solutions to prevent and manage challenging behaviors while following LSS legislation.
- Collaborate with family members, colleagues, and other stakeholders regarding the individual's needs.
- The position involves day, evening, and weekend shifts.
Qualifications
In your role, you are a support and guide for each individual employee and the work team. You guide the work team based on the operation's needs and methods by being present in the direct activities. To do this, you need a motivating and pedagogical approach and an ability to easily share your knowledge.
We're looking for you who have work experience with this target group. You have actively worked as a support assistant or support educator within LSS.
You should have broad knowledge and experience of working with people with autism and various functional variations.
You need to be well versed in LSS legislation.
You should have knowledge and experience of low-arousal approaches and clarifying pedagogy. Additionally, knowledge of alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), and be confident in social documentation as well as in establishing and following up implementation plans. You have good computer skills.
We're looking for you who are secure and stable in your professional role. In this role, it's important that you take responsibility for your tasks, plan, organize, and prioritize work efficiently. It's also important that you are flexible and can adapt to the operation's needs. The ability to express yourself clearly in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, is required, as documentation is part of the work.
To work as a support educator, you need post-secondary education within the disability services field corresponding to a two-year folk high school program or equivalent pedagogical training, for example, a YH education, or at least 60 higher education credits within areas relevant to the operation that the employer deems equivalent.
It's a merit for the position to have experience documenting in the IT support system Treserva.
