Antiquarian Specialist in Built Heritage and Architectural History

About Us Stockholm County Museum is part of the Strategic Coordination Department within the Culture Administration in Region Stockholm. The Culture Administration, working on behalf of the Culture Committee, implements Region Stockholm's cultural policy and is responsible for cultural initiatives. The Strategic Coordination Department is responsible for the Culture Committee's grants to cultural and civic organizations as well as adult education actors. The department also includes regional cultural functions that promote libraries, circus, dance, crafts, film, music, cultural heritage, and public art in municipalities, with a focus on children and young people. Stockholm County Museum is a digital museum tasked with coordinating scientific collection, processing, and dissemination of knowledge about the region's cultural environment, cultural heritage, and public art. We conduct promotional work aimed at all municipalities in the region, heritage organizations, and civil society regarding cultural environment, cultural heritage, museum, and public art matters. Stockholm County Museum is a unit consisting of 15 employees with expertise in various fields. About the Position As an antiquarian, you will be part of the county museum's knowledge-building activities, compiling and disseminating knowledge through various channels. You will write texts for websites, reports, and knowledge materials. Together with other experts at the county museum, you will develop content in text, image, and film for the museum's digital exhibitions. You will participate in an editorial group that plans and publishes content for social media. In our cultural heritage work, we provide support to municipalities and heritage organizations. We assist municipalities in their development efforts to leverage cultural environments as a resource as the region's population grows. In your role as an antiquarian, you will contribute to developing the county museum's role as a leading expert function in cultural heritage work. This includes having dialogue with the region's antiquarians, cultural heritage officers, and urban planners at regional and municipal levels. This includes, among other things, responding to consultations on cultural environments in municipalities' comprehensive plans. Other important collaborators include the County Administrative Board, national authorities, universities, and other museums. Your work includes organizing and conducting collaboration meetings, training sessions, conferences, lectures, webinars, and similar activities. Who Are You? We are seeking someone with a university degree in architectural conservation. You have expertise in built heritage and architectural history as well as competence in cultural heritage within urban planning. You have knowledge of regulations and processes in urban planning and construction, the Cultural Heritage Act, and the Planning and Building Act. If you have additional subject expertise in other cultural history areas such as history, archaeology, ethnology, art history, or cultural geography, that is certainly meritorious. You have experience compiling and disseminating knowledge from a background in museums, municipalities, cultural heritage consulting, or government agencies. You have experience working with various knowledge materials, such as building documentation, building inventories, or similar. You also have experience assessing cultural environments, cultural landscapes, and buildings. You have a strong commitment to public science and are passionate about sharing knowledge and simplifying complex matters for a broad audience. You appreciate engaging in dialogue with the region's residents in various types of projects and conducting program activities. Furthermore, you have experience in project management as well as experience creating and maintaining networks and extensive experience with written and oral presentations. It is meritorious if you have experience working in a politically governed organization. You have excellent knowledge of Swedish and English in speech and writing. It is meritorious if you have experience publishing on the web or in various digital channels. You are an engaged and positive person with the ability to work independently but who also enjoys being part of a team. You have good collaboration skills and an unpretentious approach. You have experience planning your work to meet deadlines and can implement projects with high quality. You enjoy working in an environment characterized by high competence and a focus on delivery, and you adapt easily to changing circumstances. You are a social person who is comfortable speaking to large groups, leading and facilitating meetings, and giving lectures and presentations. Furthermore, you are analytical and structured, have good organizational abilities, and work in a systematic and methodical way. You are interested in developing your ability to use digital tools and channels to disseminate and present knowledge. In this recruitment process, we place great importance on personal suitability. Stockholm County is a large region consisting of 26 municipalities where cultural environments exist in many different places. It is therefore a significant advantage if you have a driver's license. A few evenings and weekends per year you will organize or participate in various program activities throughout the region.
