About the Position A teaching assistant position involves work within teaching, administration, or participation in research or artistic development work. A teaching assistant position may correspond to a maximum of 50% of full-time employment. We are recruiting 20 teaching assistants who, as needed and by agreement, will assist course instructors. The teaching assistant position is directly linked to the basic courses for which the department is responsible. The teaching assistant position is also linked to research projects conducted at the departments. Work tasks may include lecture instruction, lab supervision, grading reports, and maintenance of technical equipment. Work tasks may also include simpler forms of administration and assistance in research projects. About You To be employed as a teaching assistant, you must be admitted to higher education at the basic or advanced level. The work tasks are varied and may arise on short notice, which requires flexibility and availability at the university. You should be responsible, thorough, service-oriented, possess pedagogical skills, and be interested in the respective subject area. It is also advantageous if you are studying at the advanced level and can demonstrate documented good subject knowledge in the areas you are expected to teach. Previous teaching experience is advantageous, as is availability for assignments during the remainder of the current and upcoming semester. Your Workplace The Department of Economic and Industrial Development (IEI) operates within both the School of Philosophy and the School of Engineering and is one of the university's largest departments with over 470 employees. Our research is conducted within a broad spectrum of areas from economics and management to design and technology. We are the university's largest basic education institution with approximately 4,200 full-time students. Teaching takes place within several sought-after and well-known educational programs. You will work at the Product Realization Department at IEI, which belongs to the School of Engineering. The department has a large basic education mission that includes teaching in the Mechanical Engineering (300 credit hours) and Design and Product Development (300 credit hours) engineering programs, the Mechanical Engineering (180 credit hours) engineering program, and the master's programs in Mechanical Engineering (120 credit hours), Design (120 credit hours), and Aeronautical Engineering (120 credit hours). About the Employment The scope of work tasks and start date will be determined by agreement. A teaching assistant position is regulated in Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
