About the Workplace Within the Department of Building and Environmental Technology, several divisions conduct research and teaching related to society's infrastructure and construction needs. As part of these activities, we also address safety aspects and develop methods for managing risks in society, particularly those related to accidents and fires. The work is characterized by interdisciplinary activities in both research and teaching. The Fire Safety Engineering Department conducts fire and safety-related research, with a group consisting of approximately 20 researchers and administrative staff. Job Responsibilities As a research assistant, your tasks may vary and are designed to provide insight into the academic world at the faculty where you study. Your main responsibilities include participating in research on fire risks associated with induction cooktops. This involves conducting experiments and analyzing results in collaboration with the project leader. The work takes place in the Fire Safety Engineering Department's fire laboratory and associated workspace. The position also includes participating in teaching, primarily through the development of teaching materials related to the research. Your responsibilities include: - participation in research, primarily laboratory work - development of teaching materials for fire safety engineering courses - administration Qualifications To be eligible for employment as a research assistant, you must be admitted to a basic or advanced-level education program at the faculty. Your degree must not yet be completed. Requirements for employment: - admission to the Civil Engineering program in Fire Safety Engineering at LTH, the Fire Engineering program at LTH, or the Civil Engineering program in Risk Management with a Fire Safety Engineering focus at LTH, or equivalent education that the employer considers relevant - very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written - ability to conduct laboratory work - independence and collaboration skills - attention to detail and patience Merits for employment: - knowledge of fire physics and fire dynamics - good knowledge of English, both spoken and written - previous teaching experience What We Offer Lund University is a state authority offering favorable employment conditions. Work arrangement is subject to agreement. Employment as a research assistant may not exceed 50% of full-time hours and may be temporary for a maximum of one year, with a combined maximum of three years. The employment must not negatively affect your studies. Regulations concerning educational employment as a research assistant are found in the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:284), Chapter 5, Sections 8-12. Employment is covered by the Working Time Agreement for Teachers.
