The Department of System and Space Technology conducts education and research in space-related areas and participates in the European university alliance project UNIVERSEH 2.0 (European Space University for Earth and Humanity) https://universeh.eu/ UNIVERSEH 2.0 aims to further develop and strengthen the alliance's role as the leading European university alliance focused on space. The project offers a multilingual, interdisciplinary, innovative, and inclusive learning environment for students, researchers, and external stakeholders. A central objective is to bring together academia and various actors in the space sector to meet evolving needs in the global space industry labor market. The project implements numerous activities and events that promote collaboration between universities, industry, and society. These activities are important for addressing emerging societal challenges, developing forward-looking competencies, and contributing to sustainable growth in the space sector. Job Responsibilities You will be part of a dynamic and international team within UNIVERSEH 2.0 and work with activities linked to Work Package 7 (WP7) – Service to Society. The work package focuses on collaboration between universities, the space industry, public actors, the surrounding society, and student space organizations. The job responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and implementing activities and events. You will contribute to establishing contacts with companies and organizations in the space sector, support collaborations with student-led space organizations, and participate in various activities within work package 7. The responsibilities also include participating in project meetings, contributing to follow-up and reporting of activities, and supporting the implementation of the project's goals and deliverables within the work package. Competencies and Experience You must be enrolled in a Master's program in space-related subjects and have completed at least two semesters of studies, of which at least one semester must be at the campus in Kiruna. You must demonstrate good academic results in space-related studies. Excellent knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is required. For this position, it is important that you have good communication and collaboration skills, are attentive, and have a solution- and results-oriented approach. You are stress-resilient, can manage multiple parallel tasks, and have the ability to prioritize even under time pressure. Furthermore, you have the ability to see the bigger picture, formulate clear goals, and translate these into concrete and measurable activities. You work in a structured and methodical manner and have good ability to manage deadlines, resources, and risks. Terms and Conditions Employment as a research assistant is regulated in the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 5. Only those admitted to education at the basic or advanced level may be employed as a research assistant (HF Chapter 5 §10). Hourly Wage/Compensation For all assignments, you will receive an hourly wage plus valuable work experience for your CV. Hourly wage depending on the difficulty of the work task: Level 1: 156 kr/hour (equivalent to approximately 25,700 kr/month for full-time work). Level 2: 171 kr/hour (equivalent to approximately 28,200 kr/month for full-time work). Information The position comprises 40% of full-time, i.e., on average 2 days per week for 5 months, from August 17, 2026 to January 31, 2027, or by agreement. The place of work is Kiruna. The workload may vary over time and by agreement, but the goal is that it be distributed in a way that is compatible with studies at the university.
