About the Workplace Älvgymnasiet is a newly established municipal upper secondary school in an exciting development phase. We currently offer five national programs as well as introductory programs and continuously work to develop our operations and create favorable conditions for our students. The school is located in Alafors and our workshops in Nol, a short distance from the school. With us, engaged employees work together to contribute to a safe and developmental school environment. You will be part of the school's student support services and work closely with our special educator, principal, teachers, and other student support staff. Together, you will develop the school's work with support measures at the individual, group, and organizational levels. As part of a school in development, you will have the opportunity to influence and help build structures and working methods for special education work. Job Responsibilities You will work closely with students and teachers on support measures, both individually, in small groups, and in the classroom in collaboration with teaching staff. The position includes, among other things: - providing support to students individually and in small groups, - guiding students in planning, structure, study techniques, and learning strategies, - working closely with teachers on adaptations and accessible instruction, - conducting and contributing to pedagogical assessments and investigations, - planning, following up, and evaluating support measures, - guiding and supporting teachers in working with students requiring extra adaptations and specialized support, - collaborating with students, guardians, teachers, and student support services, - contributing to school development and the advancement of special education work. An important part of the assignment is to work closely with instruction and the school's teachers in the national programs, focusing on providing students and teachers with concrete support in their daily work. You will contribute specialized education expertise and concrete strategies to meet students at risk of not achieving their goals. You should be comfortable with varied work that includes direct student support, mentoring, and school development. Since Älvgymnasiet is a school in development, there are excellent opportunities to influence how special education work is organized and developed going forward. Qualifications You are trained as a special education teacher or special educator. A special education teacher with a focus on mathematics is particularly meritorious. Teaching certification and subject qualification in mathematics for upper secondary school are also advantageous. We would appreciate if you have experience working in an upper secondary school, particularly with students in national programs, and an understanding of the demands and conditions these students face. Experience working with students requiring specialized support and students with neuropsychiatric disabilities is advantageous. It is also beneficial if you have experience with pedagogical assessments and investigations, planning and following up on support measures, and with compensatory aids and digital learning tools. You are secure, organized, and solution-focused and have a natural ability to build good relationships. You can work independently but also thrive in collaboration and contributing to collective efforts. You are flexible and have a clear focus on students.
