Aquatic Ecologist

Do you want to work with aquatic biology in some of Sweden's most extensive development and infrastructure projects? We are looking for an experienced aquatic biologist who wants to contribute their expertise to assignments related to infrastructure, energy, industry and environmental monitoring. Pelagia's headquarters is located in Umeå, but as an applicant you can be based anywhere in Norrland! In this role, you will work with surveys, analysis and advisory services within aquatic ecology and aquatic environments. Work tasks may include habitat mapping, electrofishing, nature value assessments, environmental investigations and preparation of materials for permitting and consultation processes. You participate in the entire project chain – from planning and conducting fieldwork to analysis, report writing and dialogue with authorities, clients and other stakeholders. The work takes place in close collaboration with colleagues in areas such as environment, nature conservation and permitting processes, where you contribute specialist knowledge about lakes, watercourses and other aquatic environments. We are looking for someone with relevant university education in biology, ecology, limnology or equivalent, and who has experience working with aquatic biology or ecology. You have documented experience in, for example, habitat mapping or electrofishing. As a person, you are self-driven, structured and communicative. You enjoy combining practical fieldwork with analytical work and have the ability to translate ecological knowledge into clear and well-founded recommendations.
