The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University has a broad research profile with strong research groups focused on cancer, genetic and autoimmune diseases, among others. One of the core principles at the department is to stimulate translational research and thereby promote closer collaboration between medical research and healthcare. Research is conducted within six research programs: cancer precision medicine, cancer immunotherapy, genomics and neurobiology, molecular tools and functional genomics, neurooncology and neurodegeneration, and vascular biology. Parts of the activities are also integrated with the divisions of oncology, clinical genetics, clinical immunology, clinical pathology, and hospital physics at Uppsala University Hospital. The department has teaching responsibilities in several degree programs, standalone courses, and international master's programs within the medical faculty. The department has a turnover of approximately 550 million kronor, of which about two-thirds are external research grants. The number of employees is approximately 400, of which about 100 are doctoral students, and there are over 850 active in the workforce. In the HR group, seven people work with HR, administration, and doctoral education administration. The HR group is part of the department's administrative support function, which in addition to HR includes staff in finance, undergraduate education, management support, and communication. In total, we are approximately 30 people within administration. Job Responsibilities You will work in our administrative team and also in collaboration with other colleagues at the department. This means stimulating and varied work. Your responsibilities include announcing the department's doctoral positions, contact with the faculty's and department's responsible persons for doctoral education, and assisting doctoral students and supervisors with applications and practical matters related to admission to doctoral education. The work also includes monitoring study plans and documenting activities, as well as assessing, accrediting, registering, and controlling study results in Ladok for the course and theory components of doctoral education. You are responsible for establishing and extending employment contracts for doctoral students, calculating employment time, and ensuring that laws and agreements regarding employment are followed. You are responsible for the practical work related to dissertations, such as booking venues, placing orders, advertising, and paying remuneration to opponents and examination committees. Contact with authorities such as the Swedish Migration Agency, the Swedish Tax Agency, and the Security Foundation. Budget transfers and some financial management also occur. An important part of the daily work is providing good service and support to supervisors and doctoral students, but it is also important to contribute to developing the service and administration required in this area. The responsibilities include a broad spectrum of administrative tasks that may occur in work at a department. Qualifications Higher education in a relevant field or equivalent experience that the employer deems equivalent. Your responsibilities and daily contact with various people within and outside the department require that you are highly organized, have good teamwork skills, are communicative, service-oriented, and loyal. You also need to be driven, have good prioritization skills, and the ability to move work forward. You should be a self-directed person who thrives in a dynamic environment with high expectations for efficient, high-quality work. You are comfortable with the variety in your responsibilities. We expect you to have good skills in common computer programs such as the Office package. Excellent skills in spoken and written Swedish and English are necessary. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. Desired Experience with similar work at a college or university. Experience with relevant software programs such as Varbi, Ladok, and Primula is desirable. About the Position The employment is permanent; a probationary period may apply. The position is full-time.
