Great, then you might be the Senior Social Worker we're looking for. You will be part of a work team consisting of a unit manager, 24 social workers, four senior social workers, one social assistant, and three administrators. The unit is divided into four teams that work together on the unit's mission and goals. The target group is children aged 13-17 years and their families. The unit's mission is to assess children's need for protection and/or support according to the Social Services Act and LVU legislation and LuL. The unit also conducts preliminary assessments when concerns or applications are received in ongoing cases and follows up on interventions. As a senior social worker, you have a central role in the organization by leading and distributing tasks to the social workers and in close cooperation with the unit manager and other team leaders based on the unit's needs. Youth Assessment Unit operates with close management, meaning high availability, trust, and responsibility based on function and delegation. From autumn 2026, as a senior social worker, you will receive group supervision through an external supervisor together with senior social workers within Välfärd Gävle. This is to support a good and stimulating work environment that strengthens the possibilities for close management. Your responsibilities include: • Lead through close management in individual cases and for a good work environment. • Delegate tasks and provide advice, support, and opportunities for colleagues' development. • Ensure that case handling and documentation maintain good quality. • Be responsible for case reviews, case distribution, and planning operations based on the unit's needs. • Provide support and guidance in complex cases. • Introduce new employees to the workplace and guide social workers in their professional role. • When necessary, handle cases and represent the unit in court. • Work to ensure competence and quality in operations, such as contributing to method development, environmental monitoring, and work with procedures. • Work closely with the unit manager and other senior social workers in the unit's management group and collaborate based on the unit's operational plans and action plans. • Act as deputy unit manager. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who has: • A degree in social work, 210 credits, or equivalent in older systems • A category B driver's license and driving experience. • At least 4 years of work experience in public authority work with the current target group, children aged 13-17 years and their families. It is meritorious if you have previous experience in management. You need to have a good ability to create and maintain trusting relationships, both with those we meet and in relation to the work team and other partners. To be able to handle the different situations that can arise in the work, you also need to be flexible, solution-focused, and enjoy collaborating across organizational boundaries with the client's needs in focus. You are secure as a person and feel comfortable making independent decisions based on applicable legislation, while also needing to be responsive to the work team's need for support and development. We will therefore place great emphasis on personal suitability. For this position, an extract from the police criminal record is required. This will only be requested from the final candidate in the last step of the recruitment process. Employment type: Permanent employment. Duration: Indefinite. Working hours: Daytime.
