As a substitute, you will need to be able to work both day shifts and overnight shifts. About the Position Our client is a 13-year-old boy with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and autism-like behaviors. He uses a wheelchair but can also move around without it with support. He does not have verbal speech, so as an applicant you need to be empathetic and attentive to the boy's signals to understand him. He needs help with everything in his daily life. During school days, the boy attends school and does not need assistance then, but during breaks and days off he has assistance during daytime as well. The boy loves everything that spins and rolls and can spend hours rolling large stones; he is also keen on YouTube and loves his tablet. The work is based on respect for the individual's self-determination and integrity. Thorough and clear introduction is provided upon employment, so that you as an assistant feel safe but most importantly so that the client feels safe with you. There are cats in the home, so you should not be allergic to cats. About You It is good if you have experience as a personal assistant and preferably experience working with children within LSS (Swedish disability support). You should be loyal, flexible, and mature in how you handle different situations, both demanding and less demanding. You should be able to adapt your pedagogical approach to the individual. Experience with epilepsy, low-intensity behavioral approaches, and experience with acting-out behavior are merits. As a personal assistant you work from the boy's family home, so it is important that you are good at communicating, have a respectful demeanor, and have good empathetic abilities. Since the boy does not have spoken language and has difficulty expressing himself, it is necessary that you are creative, attentive, and observant of small signals. Experience as a personal assistant is a merit, but personal suitability and care experience will carry the most weight. Please include in your application when you are available for the position.
