JENSEN School Kitchen Sickla is now looking for an ambitious sous chef with a passion for healthy and well-prepared food! Here you'll get to be part of creating a school restaurant where healthy, delicious, and nutritious meals are served to elementary school students as well as our educators and teachers, and help lay the foundation for many children's lifelong healthy eating habits. Sickla Elementary School has approximately 600 students, but the kitchen prepares about 3,000 portions of food every day. The Sickla kitchen delivers meals daily to currently 12 other facilities of varying sizes. You'll have the opportunity to influence menus together with other chefs at JENSEN schools, plan your own work, and implement your own ideas locally and from a broader perspective within JENSEN's generous guidelines. The work is carried out in new facilities and a well-equipped kitchen where everything you need is available. Our meals aim to be high quality, nutritious, and varied. We have a sustainability mindset and actively work to make the best use of our ingredients. Beyond this, you share our views on the importance of safeguarding children's health and well-being, including actively working to reduce the amount of refined sugar they consume. Job Responsibilities The work includes both planning and preparation of lunch, snacks, and dishwashing. You are responsible for restocking food and ensuring that the buffets in the dining hall are clean, both during lunch and after. You also manage special diets. Follow-up and self-inspections are part of the role, and you are expected to create good routines that follow food handling regulations, such as ensuring that refrigerators, kitchen spaces, and machines are in good condition and clean according to HACCP standards. What We're Looking For We're now looking for someone with a burning passion for preparing good, varied, and healthy food. You want to give children the opportunity for new taste experiences and the feeling that food is both fun and delicious! Work in the kitchen is both independent and very social—the person who cooks is an important person and you should feel like part of the operation. You are a creative and resourceful cook who enjoys taking your own initiative. You are responsible and have excellent collaboration skills with both children and adults. You have chef training or other equivalent education that the employer deems appropriate. A prerequisite for managing the work is that you are quality-conscious and have good knowledge of allergies, special diets, nutrition science, and good health. It's also important that you are flexible and self-driven as the work can involve rapid changes. Basic computer skills are necessary. Employment Type This is a permanent position at 100% with start date as soon as possible or by agreement. A six-month trial period applies to this position.
