Vacuum Technician

Your Team The Vacuum Team is responsible for providing support to MAX IV and its users. The work includes the design and simulation of vacuum systems, procurement and installation of vacuum systems for the accelerator and beamlines, commissioning and maintenance of vacuum systems, as well as troubleshooting and monitoring of vacuum performance for both the accelerator and beamlines. The team consists of engineers and technicians with extensive experience in vacuum systems for particle accelerators. Tasks and Responsibilities As a member of the vacuum team, your main task is to provide the vacuum technical support needed for MAX IV's accelerators and beamlines: Install and test vacuum equipment for accelerators and beamlines according to applicable standards and operational needs. Perform vacuum-related services such as cleaning of vacuum-use components, evacuation, leak testing, bakeout, and similar work. Troubleshoot and resolve vacuum system issues together with other members of the vacuum team. Conduct regular inspections and monitoring of vacuum systems in accelerators and beamlines. Maintain and repair vacuum components. Responsible for keeping the inventory of vacuum equipment for accelerators and beamlines organized and ensuring the availability of spare parts as needed. Order equipment and components for inventory and beamlines in collaboration with other vacuum team members. Actively participate in new projects and development initiatives. Proactively provide support to beamlines to identify and meet future vacuum needs. Contribute to planning and execution of activities during facility maintenance shutdowns. Responsible for operation and maintenance of the facility's vacuum cleaning equipment. Participate in training MAX IV employees on the use and maintenance of vacuum equipment. Create, update, and maintain technical documentation and prepare technical reports. Qualifications Technical education in mechanics, electronics, vacuum technology, or another relevant field. Experience with technical or laboratory equipment. Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written. You are initiative-taking, flexible, results-oriented, and communicative. You have strong teamwork abilities, a service-oriented approach, and work in a structured and quality-conscious manner. Desirable Qualifications At least two years of experience working in vacuum technology, preferably ultra-high vacuum (UHV). Experience from research facilities, preferably synchrotron radiation facilities. Interest in using and developing software tools for monitoring vacuum equipment.
