Description of the Position as Matilda's Personal Assistant Matilda is a 25-year-old woman with Rett Syndrome who lives in her own apartment with round-the-clock assistance (with on-call support at night). Matilda enjoys music, reading, films, and spending time with family and friends. She is normally an active person who loves exercise, dancing, swimming, traveling, and going to concerts, but due to pain-related issues, she currently sometimes needs support at a slower pace. You will become part of a wonderful team of assistants who will welcome you into the group and provide you with secure and safe onboarding/training. As Matilda's personal assistant, you will become an important part of her everyday life. You will: Assist with all ADL (personal hygiene, dressing and undressing, mealtimes, and more). Support her in activities and with certain mobility assistance. Read her body language and facial expressions (as she does not speak, but has much to communicate). Ensure she receives physical, intellectual, and social stimulation for a safe and meaningful everyday life. Be creative and flexible in finding solutions for her daily needs. Participate in her large circle of friends, where friends and assistants typically meet several times a week to do things together. Matilda can sometimes, due to her pain-related issues, display challenging behaviors. Therefore, it is an advantage if you have previous experience with situations that require calm and professional handling. She is an outgoing and cheerful person who loves to laugh, enjoys humor, music, dance, and various activities such as going to cafés, swimming, or spending time in nature. There is both a dog and a cat at home, so applicants should not have pet allergies. Sometimes you will accompany her home to spend time with her family—for example, attending her teenage siblings' sports activities. We are looking for someone who is confident, independent, and takes initiative easily. You are attentive, observant, and have a good ability to read situations. It is important that you help the young woman maintain and develop her physical and mental abilities. The woman has a congenital neurological condition, which means that functions such as language, memory, and motor skills gradually decline. As an assistant, you need to be observant of changes in symptoms and behavior. Currently, no medication delegation is required, but this may become necessary in the future. Working hours and qualifications: The position involves work on a rotating schedule with day and night shifts (overnight awake shifts). It is preferred that the entire work shift is smoke-free. It is an advantage if you have education in healthcare and social services, childcare and recreation, or similar. Experience as a personal assistant or in educational work is also a plus.
