The clinic has an inpatient ward with 19 beds and an outpatient clinic. Inpatient care primarily provides acute care in the field of infectious diseases. Conditions such as sepsis, pneumonia, COVID-19, influenza, endocarditis, and tuberculosis are common. The outpatient clinic focuses primarily on diagnoses including hepatitis, HIV, tuberculosis, immunodeficiency, and carrier status of multidrug-resistant bacteria. Needle exchange services operate in connection with the infectious disease clinic. The Department of Infectious Diseases, together with the Department of Clinical Microbiology at Umeå University, is responsible for clinical infectious disease research, and research activity is high.
