Responsibilities Quantitative analysis of lipid nanoparticles (LNP) using Cryo EM is challenging due to heterogeneous samples, lack of training data, and sample variability. In this project, we aim to develop AI/ML workflows for improved quantitative analysis of LNP. Your responsibilities will include optimizing data collection parameters for automated analysis pipelines; developing, optimizing, and implementing AI/ML workflows; and validating analyses using physicochemical methods. The research will be conducted in close collaboration with experimental LNP doctoral and postdoctoral projects in the Barriga Lab and with M. Carroni at the Cryo EM facility at SciLifeLab. Other responsibilities may include teaching, mentoring, and contributing to collaborative projects/grant applications. Barriga Lab is an interdisciplinary group combining biology, physics, and chemistry to advance our understanding of biological processes with a specific focus on structure-function relationships in lipid systems for drug delivery (primarily lipid nanoparticles). Senior Curator of Mineralogy

The Unit hosts the research infrastructure NordSIMS-Vegacenter: a Swedish national facility for microanalysis and microimaging in geo- and environmental science, encompassing a range of state-of-the-art analytical facilities, including SIMS, TIMS, (LA-)HR-ICP-MS, Raman spectrometer, and SEM. The Unit also has equipment for experimental mineralogy and mineral analysis, including furnace laboratory, X-ray diffractometer, Mössbauer spectrometer, and FTIR spectrometer. Ongoing research projects focus on crustal evolution, planetary science, and low-temperature geochemistry. The Unit also conducts research in mineralogy, primarily focused on mineral systematics and mineral chemistry, and manages one of Europe's largest mineral collections. 1 position(s). DUTIES As Senior Curator, you are expected to conduct high-quality research in mineral science, both independently and in collaboration with other researchers, utilizing the Unit's analytical resources. Your responsibilities include developing and leading a competitive research program, applying for and obtaining external research funding, and recruiting and mentoring master's students, doctoral candidates, and postdoctoral researchers. You should also be able to host visiting researchers. The position also includes responsibility for operation, maintenance, and development of the NRM's mineralogical laboratories and promoting their use in research and analysis. Additionally, you will contribute to the Museum's outreach activities. Other tasks within the Unit and Museum may occur. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must have a PhD in mineralogy, crystallography, or a related field. Excellent ability to express yourself orally and in writing in English and postdoctoral research experience or equivalent are required. Documented scientific excellence through publications of high international quality in mineral science and demonstrated ability to obtain external research funding as principal applicant are required.
