Your Assignment As a Wood and Metal Crafts Teacher, you will teach students in grades 3-9. You are primarily responsible for teaching students in the lower and middle grades at Orminge School. A few lessons per week you also teach groups from Myrsjö Resource School. The groups consist of students with autism in the middle and upper grades. You plan, conduct, and evaluate instruction in your subject based on the curriculum. You follow up, assess, grade, and document students' knowledge development. The assignment also includes responsibility for the craft room's work environment and safety, including the handling of machines and tools, as well as ordering and maintaining materials and equipment. Teaching takes place in half-classes in our well-equipped craft rooms. You introduce various techniques, teach students to sketch and plan their work, and support them through the entire work process—from idea to finished product. Practical activities are combined with theoretical components on materials, techniques, sustainability, recycling, reuse, and safety. You encourage students' creativity, provide space for their own ideas and expression, and convey the importance and usefulness of craft education. Through an inclusive approach, you adapt instruction to each student's needs, interests, and circumstances. When needed, you implement additional adjustments to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed. The role involves close collaboration with the school's textile craft teacher and colleagues in the practical subjects team. You work together on students, planning, assessment, grading, pedagogical development, and systematic quality work.
