To meet these challenges, research and education that combines classical computational models with new approaches to computation and representation are required, especially in high-dimensional and complex data environments. This initiative is directly related to the university's computer science environment and offers good synergy opportunities with research groups in, among others, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber-physical systems, and data-intensive applications. We therefore see a focus on research and development of new methods for representing, processing, and analyzing complex information as important. These methods range from basic research at the method level, for example algorithm development and models for efficient information representation, to applied research in collaboration with other groups. The computer science subject at the Department of System and Space Engineering, Luleå University of Technology, is now seeking an assistant university lecturer to contribute to our growing activities. Subject Description Computer science encompasses research on algorithms, data structures, computational models, and software engineering for developing resource-efficient, distributed, and intelligent systems with applications in the digital infrastructure of the future. The subject also has a particular responsibility for didactic development within the foundations of computer science. Duties The assistant university lecturer will be engaged in the university's education in courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, pedagogical development work and research are included, primarily within new approaches to computation and data representation, especially in high-dimensional and complex data environments, but also other sub-areas within computer science based on your own research interests and ongoing research projects. Qualifications To meet the requirements for employment as an assistant university lecturer, the applicant must have completed a doctoral degree, or have a foreign degree that is assessed to correspond to a doctoral degree Preferably, the person should come into consideration for employment who has completed a doctoral degree at most five years before the application deadline. However, a person who has completed a doctoral degree or has achieved equivalent competence earlier can also come into consideration if there are special reasons. Special reasons refer to leave due to illness, parental leave, or other similar circumstances. Promotion to University Lecturer The purpose of the employment is to give the teacher the opportunity to develop their independence as a researcher and build qualifications both scientifically and pedagogically to meet the requirements for employment as a university lecturer. An assistant university lecturer shall, upon application, be promoted to university lecturer and given permanent employment if they have eligibility for a lecturer position, and upon review are deemed suitable for such a position according to the assessment criteria stated below. For promotion, the assistant lecturer is required to have completed higher education pedagogy training corresponding to 7.5 credits or alternatively acquired equivalent knowledge in another way. During the employment period, the assistant lecturer must also independently, to a considerable extent and with high quality, contribute to the university's research and demonstrate good pedagogical competence.
