Our Operations At Hematology Department 101A, we care for patients with blood diseases, such as leukemias and myeloma. Here, highly specialized care is provided with a focus on both medical quality and person-centered nursing care. We care for patients throughout the entire care process – from investigation to intensive treatment and, for some patients, blood stem cell transplantation or CAR T-cell therapy. Stem cell transplantation is one of our specialty areas and we are accredited according to the European quality assurance standard JACIE. The work is varied and medically advanced. You work with, among other things, central lines, cytostatic drugs, immunotherapy, infection-fighting medications, and transfusions of blood components. Monitoring and assessment of patients in connection with advanced treatments is also included. At the same time, nursing care is a central part of the work. We support patients and loved ones throughout the entire care process. Many treatments last several weeks and recur over time, which means that we get to know our patients well and follow them through much of their treatment journey. We work in multidisciplinary teams where nurses, nursing assistants, physicians, and other professionals collaborate closely. Thanks to the specialized care, we have a high nurse-to-patient ratio and you will have an experienced nurse as your mentor during your first year. Your Responsibilities As a psychiatric nurse at Laromottagningen, you are responsible for your patients and plan your own day based on patient and operational needs. We work in a team and help each other when needed. Work tasks include medication distribution, medication monitoring, blood sampling, and therapeutic conversations with patients. The role also includes contact with healthcare partners and social services. Collaboration with other actors is a central part of working with our patients and includes cooperation with open psychiatric clinics in the county, infectious disease clinics, and addiction centers. About the position We are primarily a cancer surgery ward with patients suffering from breast cancer, sarcoma, and endocrine tumors, but for the past 2.5 years we have also had an endocrinology patient category that makes our ward even more exciting and provides greater knowledge and professional development. As a nurse, you lead patient care. You should be able to identify care needs and initiate appropriate measures. The work is stimulating and has great breadth as you will meet patients in different life situations, from acute situations to patients further along in their disease. Advanced treatments such as pain management via epidural are part of the ward's work. Infection treatments, management of central lines, pain pump management, and various types of drainage are examples of tasks that occur in daily work. As support for all staff members, both new and senior, we have a clinical care manager (KLINO) who is an experienced nurse and works to strengthen care and support colleagues in their work. Breast, endocrine tumors, and sarcoma are part of Theme Cancer. We investigate, operate on, and treat breast cancer, benign tumors, and thyroid cancer, neuroendocrine tumors in the abdomen (NET), as well as soft tissue tumors. Much of the daily work involves pre- and postoperative care within highly specialized cancer surgery as well as care for patients with congenital endocrinological diseases. We are proud to be the sole provider in Stockholm County healthcare when it comes to endocrine surgery and soft tissue sarcoma. This is a permanent full-time position. With us, you work two shifts according to a 24/7 agreement, and the schedule is arranged according to a preference schedule with four periods set throughout the year.
