Operations Manager for Preschool, Nässjö Municipality

We are now seeking an operations manager for preschool at the Department of Children and Education. We are a large department with approximately 1,200 employees working to create a safe and developmental education for children and students – from preschool through primary school and adapted primary school. At the same time, we are a municipality where proximity to operations is a strength, which provides good understanding of everyday conditions and needs. Together with the department's combined expertise, this creates good opportunities to drive long-term and strategic development work. We are a municipality where preschool has a central role, and our 22 preschools lay the foundation for children's lifelong learning. Operations are characterized by great commitment, shared responsibility, and a clear focus on the best interests of children. Preschool operations also include the Department of Children and Education's substitute staffing service and open preschool. Preschool in the municipality is characterized by active development work with a focus on quality, instruction, and assessment. We participate in targeted initiatives together with the Swedish National Agency for Education and follow upcoming reforms that the education system faces. Within operations, several development initiatives are underway, including language and knowledge-developing working methods (SKUA) and the initiative Seen and Missed – a presence-promoting effort for children and students within the department. We also work in close collaboration with other operations, for example through preschool social teams in cooperation with the Social Services Department and through literacy-promoting initiatives such as the Bookstart project in collaboration with the Culture and Recreation Department. 1 position(s). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As operations manager, you have overall responsibility for preschool throughout the municipality and lead development-oriented work together with an experienced and committed team. You manage nine principals, one unit manager, nine special educators, and two preschool teachers at the open preschool. The organization also includes ten preschool teachers with expanded development assignments, a school psychologist, and administrative staff. Principals and special educators are co-located within the preschool unit, which creates good conditions for collaboration and joint development work. You report directly to the department manager and are part of the department's management group. In this role, you work from City Hall and have overall responsibility for operations, finances, and personnel, as well as ensuring functioning and developed labor relations cooperation. You work from a holistic perspective and lead, plan, and follow up operations with a focus on quality and goal achievement through systematic quality work in close collaboration with principals and other functions. The assignment also includes close collaboration with the operations managers for primary school and student welfare, as well as other internal and external contacts. The following are also included in the position: • Drive and develop preschool's development work, for example within SKUA and Seen and Missed. • Supervise independent preschools. • In collaboration with operations developers, contribute to joint strategic work regarding facilities based on needs and volumes. • Work long-term with competence development in preschool. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone with solid management experience and many years of experience in educational work. You have a pedagogical university education, and it is meritorious if you have experience working in a leading position in a politically governed organization. You have good knowledge of preschool's mission and governing documents, as well as experience working with systematic quality work and operations development. You also have experience leading through other managers and driving change and development work with good results. As a person, you have trust-based leadership characterized by transparency, dialogue, and present management. You are confident in your role, have a good ability to listen to different perspectives, and make well-founded decisions. You have a strategic approach and the ability to see the whole picture, while at the same time being able to translate goals and direction into concrete action. You also have good collaboration skills and enjoy a role with many points of contact, both internally and externally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. The recruitment process is ongoing during the application period, which means interviews may be conducted before the application deadline ends. We look forward to reading your application!
