About the Trauma Platoon The Trauma Platoon consists of the Swedish Armed Forces' only two full-time trauma teams together with command and support functions. The Trauma Platoon's task is to train, develop and maintain mobile and rapidly deployable trauma teams for crisis and war as well as national and international operations. The Trauma Platoon also supports the development of trauma teams throughout the Swedish Armed Forces. The purpose of the trauma teams is to perform triage, advanced resuscitation and life-saving surgery in cases of delayed evacuation from the battlefield. They are light units with short deployment times that can be utilized within the country to support ongoing operations, and as forward tactical medical support in international operations.
