State Scientific Institute "National Research and Innovation Institute" (NIRI) Registration No. 40900041720 invites applications for a vacant scientific assistant position in the Precision Medicine Group (profession code 2111 03) We invite applications for doctoral research in an ambitious interdisciplinary team working at the forefront of precision medicine. Research on changes in the oral cavity and gut microbiome during pediatric oncology treatment, as well as the relationship of these changes to therapy efficacy, complications, and long-term health outcomes. You will work with unique longitudinal clinical cohorts and integrate shotgun metagenomics, 16S sequencing, metabolomics, and clinical data to identify novel biomarkers and improve patient stratification. We offer: • Fully funded doctoral research position (upon enrollment in a doctoral program at one of Latvia's universities) • Access to unique longitudinal pediatric oncology cohorts and multi-omics datasets • Training in modern bioinformatics, microbiome data analysis, and precision medicine methods • International and collaboration-based research environment together with physicians, microbiologists, and computer science researchers • Position in Riga Requirements • Master's degree in microbiology, molecular biology, or medicine • Interest in microbiome research, metagenomics, microorganism ecology, microorganism interaction studies • Basic knowledge in molecular biology and microbial genomics • Good communication and scientific writing skills in English • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a research team Application requirements: Motivation letter describing the applicant's research interests and motivation; Curriculum vitae (CV) with a list of publications.
