About the Operations Bergslena High School Adapted High School offers national and individual programs. The adapted high school is a 4-year high school education for students with intellectual disabilities. The school consists of various units that are decentralized throughout Borås City. We are a smaller organization and we work closely with those we serve. In the Individual Program, students study six subject areas and in the National Program we offer six vocational programs. We work to make students employable within their chosen vocational field or reach as far as possible in their knowledge development. The climate is characterized by a safe learning environment and a professional view of the target group and their knowledge development. Before and after school hours, Bergslena High School's units offer short-term supervision for students. Work Tasks The Hotel, Restaurant and Bakery program is located at our unit on Bergslenagatan. You are responsible for teaching the program's vocational subjects. The assignment includes using digital tools and AI as a natural part of teaching to strengthen students' learning and digital competence. You plan, implement, follow up and evaluate teaching as well as analyze students' knowledge development to ensure high quality instruction. Teaching is adapted based on each student's individual conditions, needs and goals. The role involves close collaboration with student assistants and other colleagues, where you share planning and pedagogical strategies to create the best possible conditions for students' development and learning. Since the teaching includes practical components and activities, you need to be comfortable with active work. You collaborate with student assistants in daily work and share planning and information to create a safe, structured and developmental learning environment for students. Qualifications We are looking for you who are a qualified vocational instructor with teaching certification in the relevant vocational field. If you also have a specialist teaching degree with a focus on intellectual disabilities, we see that as a merit. It is also meritorious if you have experience teaching within national programs in the adapted high school. Experience from equivalent programs within high school is also valuable. To thrive and succeed in the role, you are a secure and committed educator with good social skills. You take initiative, work independently and at the same time collaborate easily with colleagues and other professions. You see opportunities in challenges and use a creative and solution-focused approach to meet students' diverse needs. You understand the importance of digitalization in teaching and for the target group, and are curious about rapid technological development. We would like you to explore and use digital tools, including AI, as support for learning, participation and development. B driving license is a requirement because some of the teaching and students' learning takes place out in the community. For this position, it is important that you have good collaboration skills and can create trusting relationships with students, guardians, teaching colleagues, student assistants and other functions within the school.
