About the Operation
Bergslena Adapted High School offers national and individual programs. The adapted high school is a 4-year high school education for students with intellectual disabilities. The school consists of different units that are located throughout Borås City. We are a smaller organization and we work closely with those we serve.
In the Individual Program, students study six subject areas and in the National Program we offer six vocational programs. We work to ensure that students become employable within their chosen vocational direction or progress as far as possible in their knowledge development. The climate is characterized by a safe learning environment and a professional approach to the target group and their knowledge development.
Before and after school, Bergslena High School's units offer short-term supervision for students.
Job Responsibilities
The Health, Care and Social Services program is located at our unit on Bergslenagatan. There you are responsible for teaching the program's vocational subjects. The assignment includes using digital tools and AI as a natural part of teaching to strengthen students' learning and digital competence.
You plan, implement, follow up and evaluate teaching and analyze students' knowledge development to ensure high quality instruction. Teaching is adapted based on each student's individual conditions, needs and goals.
The role involves close collaboration with student assistants and other colleagues, where you share planning and pedagogical strategies to create the best possible conditions for students' development and learning.
Since teaching includes practical components and activities, you need to be comfortable with active work. You collaborate with student assistants in daily work and share planning and information to create a safe, structured and developmental learning environment for students.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a qualified vocational teacher with teacher certification in the relevant vocational field, or alternatively have a primary education degree with authority to teach sports and health. If you also have a special education degree with a focus on intellectual disabilities, we see that as an advantage.
It is also advantageous if you have experience working within the Children and Recreation Program or the Health, Care and Social Services Program at high school level. We also value experience teaching in national programs within adapted high schools. If you have worked with similar programs within high school, we also see that as an asset.
To thrive and succeed in the role, you are a confident and committed educator with good social competence. You take initiative, work independently and at the same time find it easy to collaborate with colleagues and other professional groups. You see opportunities in challenges and use a creative and solution-focused approach to meet students' different needs.
You understand the importance of digitalization in teaching and for the target group, and are curious about rapid technological development. We would like you to want to explore and use digital tools, including AI, as support for learning, participation and development.
A category B driving license is a requirement because some of the teaching and students' learning takes place out in the community.
For this position, it is important that you have good cooperation skills and can create trusting relationships with students, guardians, teaching colleagues, student assistants and other functions within the school.
