About the Position
Bergsjön Library is now seeking an engaged librarian who is passionate about promoting reading with a special focus on multilingual adults. The library is a large, integrated part of Kulturhuset Bergsjön, which opened in 2022. The cultural center is a vibrant meeting place for both the local community and visitors from throughout the city.
As part of the public work at Kulturhuset Bergsjön, you meet our visitors, make the library's content easily accessible, and spread the joy and inspiration of reading. Through this, you contribute to the library's democratic mission by strengthening adult reading and helping to reduce literacy gaps in society. Many of the library's visitors have mother languages other than Swedish, which makes multilingualism a natural part of the activities' mission. You also provide information about the entire cultural center's activities and help create a welcoming meeting place.
As an adult librarian, you work to develop and run activities aimed at our adult visitors. You work from a participant-driven perspective. In this position, you work to make the library's content accessible, promote reading enjoyment, and create reading-promotion activities with a special focus on multilingualism. This is a responsibility you share with a colleague. You conduct outreach work as needed. You participate in existing networks to help develop engagement and expand contact channels. Public service and media handling are also a natural part of daily work, as is striving for high accessibility.
The position may include supporting the unit manager with temporary staffing arrangements and scheduling during changes.
This is a parental leave substitute position at 80% from 2026-11-25 to 2027-08-31 and involves day, evening, and weekend shifts according to schedule.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has
A university degree in Library and Information Science
At least one year of continuous experience working in a public library
Experience in library work with the target group: adults, multilingual audiences
It is advantageous if you have
Language skills beyond Swedish and English
Experience promoting reading in collaboration with our users
Experience working with temporary staffing arrangements
