We are approximately 75 employees who together work to make cultural heritage accessible to more people. Our operations are broad and encompass areas such as archaeology, building conservation, cultural heritage pedagogy, exhibitions, conservation, maritime archaeology, as well as archives, libraries, and collections. Our work extends across all of Kalmar County, as well as to neighboring counties and nationally and internationally. Our activities in the museum building and regionally attract approximately 100,000 visitors and participants each year. The museum is open year-round and is an appreciated destination with well-known brands as well as popular exhibitions and events.

The Built Heritage Unit
The museum has a dedicated built heritage unit, currently with six building conservationists. We have special knowledge of older houses, buildings, and environments in the region, and are specialists in cultural values. We enable cultural values to develop, be used, and be preserved when cities and communities change, when older areas are to be used in new ways, and when individual buildings are to be modified or restored. Regional development issues and site development are areas we particularly want to develop further. With our combined expertise and with cultural values as a resource, we contribute to a sustainable society and to well-designed living environments that give us people well-being, experiences, and security. We are active primarily in Kalmar County, but also undertake assignments outside the county, particularly in Kronberg and Blekinge counties. Operations are largely financed through projects. Private individuals, major property owners (private and public), municipalities, authorities, associations, and the Swedish Church are our main partners and customers.

Are You Our New Unit Manager?
We are looking for someone who wants to be part of and lead the operations and contribute to the work of developing and preserving Kalmar County's built cultural heritage. If you want to help continue Kalmar County Museum's tradition of engaged cultural heritage work, you will thrive with us.
You will become manager of the built heritage unit's six competent employees. In this role, your mission is to actively develop and drive operations in dialogue with external and internal partners, engage and support employees, and ensure a good working environment.
We welcome applicants with broad experience in the cultural heritage field who can bring the museum new knowledge and perspectives within, for example, landscape, designed living environments, or regional development.
About the Role
As unit manager, you have budget and personnel responsibility for the unit's operations and report to the museum director. In addition to your management responsibilities, you will participate in the museum's management group, where we jointly drive and develop strategic and business issues common to all of Kalmar County Museum's operations.

You will have varying work tasks, primarily within project-based operations. You will work independently and, in addition to your management role, be responsible for your own projects where you are expected to be billable. You are a driven person who sees opportunities for development and can take personal responsibility while also working in a group.
Who Are You – Your Profile and Potential
You must have:
An academic degree in heritage conservation or other relevant qualification for the position.
Experience with built heritage conservation issues or other equivalent relevant experience.
Current management experience within externally funded cultural heritage or community development operations.
Experience developing operations, working methods, and approaches.
Good knowledge of structures and methods for collaboration and management.
Knowledge of applicable legislation such as PBL, KML, and the Environmental Code.
You write and speak fluent Swedish and are confident with the Microsoft Office suite.
You have a Category B driver's license.
It is meritorious if you have:
Experience and knowledge of public procurement, bidding processes, and similar.
Experience with overarching strategic cultural heritage issues.
Experience with regional development, site development, and similar overarching societal issues.

Practical Information
Permanent position, 100% full-time. We use a trial period. Location in Kalmar. Evening and weekend work may occur. Collective agreement and benefits according to current terms. All managers at Kalmar County Museum have trust-based working hours.
