We are now seeking a visiting university lecturer who wants to help develop our research and education within Natural Resources and Sustainable Development.

Our research combines natural science and engineering with social science and is often interdisciplinary. At the department, over 300 people from more than 30 countries work together, both in Uppsala and at Campus Gotland.

Field of Study
Teaching about energy systems suits you if you want to help shape education about future energy supply and create opportunities for more sustainable energy use by weaving together natural science and technical knowledge with societal perspectives.
Duties
You will work with:
teaching: Teaching includes course responsibility, examinations, and course administration. The main task is to take responsibility for several courses on the world's energy systems, for example the courses 1GV310 Energy Knowledge and Energy Security in Local and Global Energy Systems, 1GV334 Sustainable Energy Technology, 1GV214 and Project in Sustainable Energy Technology, 1GV350. Guest lectures or teaching components in other courses within the same teaching area may occur, as well as contributing to course development within the research theme "Energy, Resources and Society."
research: Actively applying for external research grants.
administration: Administrative tasks, primarily related to teaching and research. This includes taking responsibility beyond your own research and teaching assignments, participating in the evaluation and development of teaching and research tasks, solving tasks together with colleagues, and helping and providing feedback to colleagues.
keeping yourself updated within your field of study and following societal developments relevant to your work at the university.
When selecting among qualified applicants, particular emphasis will be placed on both scientific and pedagogical skills, with great emphasis on pedagogical skills.
Qualification Requirements
You should have:
a doctoral degree in energy systems, sociotechnical systems, energy engineering, or equivalent.
scientific skills referring to research merit. In addition to academic qualifications, research merit from other activities, such as technical development and innovation capability, may be considered. When assessing scientific skills, scientific quality will be primarily considered. The scope of research, particularly depth and breadth, will also be given weight. When assessing scientific skills, particular emphasis will be placed on research merits in analysis and modeling of energy systems. The ability and intention to anchor teaching well in your own research is particularly important.
pedagogical skills with particular emphasis on documented experience of teaching at basic/advanced level with a focus on technical and interdisciplinary approaches. In addition to academic qualifications, teaching and education merit from other activities may be considered, such as supervision, in-house training, or mentoring programs.
completed higher education pedagogy training relevant to the position, comprising ten weeks, or assessed as having equivalent knowledge.
documented ability to teach in Swedish and English unless special reasons exist.
ability to collaborate and otherwise meet the requirements of suitability needed to perform the work duties well.
ability to link research based on the current subject, subject didactics, and higher education pedagogy to teaching, and to be able to interact on higher education pedagogical issues with actors within and outside the university.
documented ability to competitively obtain external research grants.
pedagogical skills and scientific competence or other professional skills relevant to the employment's field of study and the work duties included in the position.
Desirable/Meriting Qualifications
It is meriting if you have:
pedagogical skills referring to teaching and education merit. When assessing pedagogical skills, pedagogical quality will be primarily considered. Scope, both breadth and depth, will also be given weight. When assessing pedagogical skills, particular emphasis will be placed on previous teaching experience, documented ability to lecture within the subject in a good and inspiring manner. Furthermore, the ability to plan, initiate, lead, and develop education and teaching, as well as the ability to link research to teaching based on research in the current subject, subject didactics, and higher education pedagogy, will be given weight. The ability to interact on higher education pedagogical issues with actors within and outside the university is also included in pedagogical skills.
established networks within industry or government agencies to be able to weave in non-academic perspectives into teaching.

About the Position
The position is a fixed-term visiting position for 2 years. The position is 20%. Start date October 1, 2026, or by agreement. Location: Uppsala
