The Faculty of Medicine is one of the largest faculties at Umeå University and attracts many students with an extensive range of programs in medicine, dentistry, health, and care. Description At the Department of Nursing, which has approximately one hundred employees, education is provided for nurses and radiographers, specialist programs for nurses, midwifery, master's, and postgraduate education as well as research within three main subject areas: nursing, radiography, and sexual and reproductive health. We are now seeking a substitute university lecturer at 100% within the field of nursing. Job Duties The position includes practical and theoretical teaching, supervision of students, and conducting and assessing examinations in undergraduate and advanced level education. Teaching will take place primarily within the nursing program but may also occur in the department's other programs and courses. Additionally, the position involves participating in the development of new courses and administrative tasks. Teaching will partly be conducted through distance education. Qualification Requirements To be eligible for employment as a lecturer in nursing, you must be a licensed nurse with a master's degree in nursing or equivalent qualifications. Knowledge and experience in skills training and practical teaching are meritorious. To be eligible for this position, the applicant must have documented ability to teach in both Swedish and English. As a person, you are service-oriented, take your own initiatives, are thorough, and can work independently. You are outgoing and have good ability to collaborate with students, colleagues, and groups both within and outside the university. Furthermore, we would like to see that you are driven and solution-oriented. We place great importance on personal suitability. Criteria for Employment When employing teachers at the university, the degree of such competence that is required for employment eligibility shall apply, that is, for this position pedagogical competence, administrative competence, and clinical competence. Evaluation of pedagogical competence and clinical competence shall be given special attention in this employment. Furthermore, the degree of competence to contribute to program and course development shall apply. A general evaluation criterion for teachers at Umeå University is both good collaboration ability, as well as the competence and suitability otherwise needed to perform the work duties well. When assessing pedagogical competence, documented experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching as well as supervision and assessment in nursing will be considered. Administrative competence can be demonstrated through competence in leading and developing activities and personnel as well as through the ability to collaborate. Clinical competence is demonstrated through current clinical experience and documented good clinical competence. Other Information The position is based in Umeå, but work at other locations may occur. This is a substitute position for two years with a start date by agreement. We view positively the maintenance of clinical professional practice during the employment period, and a clinical connection of 20% may be possible within the scope of the position.
