The Theater School in Malmö is seeking a collaborative and solution-focused theater technician for a fixed-term substitute position at 50% for six months. We are looking for someone who can combine theater technical expertise with broad technical understanding and who thrives in an environment where artistic creation, education, and technology meet. The role includes work in our stage, studio, and teaching environments as well as support within technical systems, teaching spaces, and building-related operations. You will become an important part of the artistic and educational activities and contribute to creating professional, safe, and inspiring conditions for teaching, production, and performance work. The daily work is primarily focused on stage and theater technology, such as lighting, sound, rigging, scenography, safety, and technical coordination. In parallel, you will provide support in AV technology, teaching spaces, building services, and other technical services to ensure that our environments and equipment function well. Together with colleagues and teaching staff, you create the conditions for high technical quality, good service, and well-functioning operations for both students and employees. Work Tasks Stage and Theater Technology Operation, maintenance, and development of our scenic learning environments. Theater technical support in teaching, performance activities, and productions. Lighting and stage technology in our studios and stage. Construction of audience seating. Construction and fabrication of scenography. Safety work in our stage and studio spaces. Collaboration with teachers, students, and external production teams. Documentation and quality assurance of technical solutions. Technical Operations, AV, and Building-Related Services Support and troubleshooting in teaching rooms, studios, and common areas. Functional checks and servicing of technical equipment. Operational support for building-related technology: access control, security, and minor installations. Planning, prioritization, and management of service requests. Cooperation with building management, suppliers, and internal support functions. Preventive maintenance and handling of operational disruptions. You will be part of a coordinated technician team that together is responsible for the operations' technical functions and development. Requirements For this position, we require: Basic technical competence in one of the areas of lighting, sound, rigging, stage, AV, or technical operations. Documented experience with technical work in complex environments (does not need to be in theater – for example, AV technology, event production, building technology, studio work). Ability to troubleshoot, prioritize, and manage service requests. Good administrative skills and experience in planning and structuring your work. Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Meritorious qualifications include: Experience working in scenic environments. Knowledge of lighting design, audio technology, rigging, or stage production. Certifications (for example, rigging, lift certification, or safety systems). B-class driver's license. Experience from teaching environments or work in a cultural institution. The role requires a very strong ability to collaborate with colleagues, students, and other functions within the organization. The work is also partly independent, which requires the ability to plan and independently solve your work tasks within the scope of the assignment. Other Work during evenings and weekends may occur. The Faculty of Arts in Malmö is one of nine faculties within Lund University and consists of the Schools of Art, Music, and Theater, as well as Inter Arts Center. At the Faculty of Arts, there are bachelor's, master's, and postgraduate programs in fine art, music, and theater, as well as a number of courses of varying scope. Research education and research with artistic focus and in music education are also conducted here. The Theater School Malmö, located in the heart of Malmö's creative Möllevångskvarter, is part of the Faculty of Arts at Lund University. Annually, more than 100 people have the Theater School as their study or workplace. The educational mission includes 60 full-year places in the form of freestanding courses, programs at both undergraduate and master levels, and research within theater.
