The academic and career counseling team consists of 6 staff members who work closely together in daily activities with both general counseling and specialized guidance for certain programs. We are now seeking an engaged team member to work with us in the Student Support and Educational Administration unit. As an academic and career counselor, you have the opportunity to contribute to our vision of becoming Sweden's best student support by assisting students as they enter and progress through their studies at Dalarna University. The Student Support and Educational Administration unit is a central unit within the university's operational support with 22 employees. The unit comprises educational administration, academic and career counseling, student health, and examinations, and is one of three units within the Student and Educational Support department responsible for all study administration and student support, both centrally and toward the departments. The department is responsible for the validation process and admissions to the teacher education program, work in which academic counseling plays a central role. Your Day as an Academic and Career Counselor The work consists of providing guidance and information to prospective and current students. You guide students into their studies, through their studies, and in the transition to working life. In your daily work, you have contacts digitally, via phone, and in scheduled personal meetings. Your role is to support students and prospective students in independently developing awareness of their characteristics, competencies, and interests. The assignment also includes organizing information and training sessions. Beyond close collaboration within academic and career counseling, you collaborate with colleagues in other parts of operational support and at the departments, as well as with external partners. Your work will also involve being part of shaping, developing, and implementing student support at both group and individual levels to increase the proportion of students who complete their education. You also participate in the department's overall work and development. Are You the Person We're Looking For? To succeed in this role, we see that you have: - an academic and career counselor degree or equivalent - general competence regarding studies at college and university level and knowledge of the labor market - the ability to express yourself well in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing Previous experience in academic and career counseling at college or university is advantageous for this position, as is experience with validation in education and/or knowledge of teacher education programs. Since the work involves collaborating with many different people, we are looking for someone who is responsive and has strong communication skills. To thrive in this role, you also need to be self-directed and flexible. The Position This is a fixed-term employment with start date as soon as possible by agreement until June 30, 2027. Full-time position (100%). Dalarna University operates at two locations. The placement location for this position is Borlänge, with some work also occurring in Falun.
