We at the detailed planning division of the city planning administration are over 100 people with a fantastic and interesting mission: to develop Sweden's second largest city through urban planning. Together with other expertise in the city and many different stakeholders, we work to make Gothenburg a green, accessible, and dynamic major city. Right now it is more exciting than ever to work with us because a lot is happening in the urban planning field! We are now looking for an urban planner who wants to drive city development through projects and plans that have great impact on the future of Gothenburg. This position is a temporary role with a desired start in November 2026. The temporary assignment runs through and including October 2027.
Job Responsibilities
As an urban planner, you independently drive detailed plans and planning programs from project management to detailed preparation of planning documents. With us you have great influence and responsibility in shaping planning proposals as well as responsibility for creating progress through structured work and leading and distributing work within the project. In your role you will work with many pleasant and competent colleagues from different departments who, like you, are passionate about creating good urban environments. In the urban planner's role, it is important to establish a project culture where all members work toward common goals and strengthen each other's competencies.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a master's degree education, for example as an architect, physical planner, or equivalent within urban planning. You have at least 3 years of experience in detailed planning and are accustomed to independently driving planning projects.
We see that you have solid experience in physical planning and want to drive complex city development projects. The position requires that you have good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and the Environmental Code. Previous experience working in a municipal organization is considered an advantage.
You as a person enjoy working with colleagues and collaborating with various different actors. As a person you are engaged in your work and thrive with independently driving your projects forward. You are one step ahead and have an eye for what needs to be done. You have good teamwork skills, a creative side, and being pedagogical are also important qualities to thrive in the role as an urban planner with us.
