An important part of this is mother tongue instruction and study counseling in the mother tongue, as Härnösand has many students with a language background other than Swedish. As a mother tongue teacher/study counselor in Härnösands Municipality, you will be part of Wendela Hellmans School's organization, but work across all schools in the municipality. Mother tongue instruction and study counseling in Härnösands Municipality is provided from grade 1 in primary school through upper secondary school. We are now seeking a mother tongue teacher and study counselor with Tigrinya as their mother tongue. You must be a qualified mother tongue teacher in Tigrinya with documented strong skills in spoken and written language. You should also have good knowledge of the culture and traditions in the regions/countries where Tigrinya is spoken. Study counseling in the mother tongue is an important part of the position. To be able to provide study counseling from grade 1 through upper secondary school, you must have higher education in a subject relevant to schools. Documented strong skills in Swedish in spoken and written form at upper secondary school level are required. We expect that you have experience working as a mother tongue teacher and study counselor in Tigrinya. You are a positive person who is committed to your work and wants students to succeed. You have good collaboration skills and are good at building relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. In your role as study counselor, you will collaborate with numerous class/subject teachers across the municipality's different schools. It is therefore important that you are an organized person with good planning skills who communicates easily with other people. Personal suitability is crucial. As a mother tongue teacher, you will teach from grade 1 of primary school through upper secondary school. We work with stage-based instruction. Your work includes planning and conducting lessons based on the curriculum in the mother tongue subject, assessing students' knowledge, and assigning grades. You will also help inform students and guardians about mother tongue instruction and how to apply. As a study counselor, you work to support students in their regular schoolwork. This can range from translating and explaining lesson assignments, to preparing for tests and translating/discussing texts and speeches, both individually and during ongoing lessons. You work closely with the student, subject teachers, the student's mentor, and guardians. The work requires a great deal of independence and flexibility, and you must always keep the student's needs in focus. Since the position involves moving between schools, a driver's license and access to a car are meriting qualifications. Knowledge of Amharic is also meriting. Work in schools requires a submitted extract from the criminal record register. The position is filled subject to required decisions being made.
