The University Library serves as a gathering place for the entire university and offers an inspiring study environment at both campus locations. Our collection of media and services are directed toward and used by students, staff, and the public; interactions with users take place both in physical environments and through digital channels. Scientific information provision and services for education and research are areas included in our mission. We support, teach, and guide students and researchers in finding and using information as well as in the academic writing process. Additionally, we support researchers in publishing and making their research accessible and in navigating the transition to open science. The University Library also offers additional support to students in various forms such as student health services, targeted educational support for students with disabilities, and academic advising. We are now seeking a substitute librarian. Job Responsibilities If you enjoy varied work tasks and appreciate meeting with users, you might be the person we are looking for. You will be part of the Publishing and Learning Support team. Your responsibilities will include both teaching and mentoring students, as well as media acquisition and, if needed, other tasks within the media provision area. Additionally, you will participate in providing service to our users at the information desk and through other communication channels. Your Background We are looking for someone with a bachelor's, master's, or advanced degree in library and information science. Work as a librarian requires strong written and oral language skills in Swedish and English, as well as strong IT competence. You need to have previous experience working as a librarian at a college or university library. Meritorious qualifications include: - Experience planning and conducting instruction in information searching, reference management, and source criticism, as well as mentoring students in these areas. - Experience with media management such as acquisition, cataloging, and weeding at educational institution libraries. Your Characteristics As a person, you are service-oriented and place user needs in focus. You have a pedagogical approach when meeting with individuals and groups, and you are curious and willing to take on new tasks. You will work in different teams and are therefore expected to have good collaboration skills and a sense of responsibility. We place great importance on your personal qualities. Employment and Start Date The position is a full-time substitute role for nine months, starting September 1, 2026, or by agreement.
