The Department of Aesthetic Subjects at Umeå University's Faculty of Humanities conducts education and research in the aesthetic subjects of visual art, music, and craft. Description of Work Tasks The position includes teaching in courses in textile craft and craft didactics, as well as supervision and examination of degree projects, and if applicable, visits to work-integrated learning in teacher education. Teaching in fashion design may also be included. Teaching is at basic and advanced level and takes place both on campus and in internet-based courses. The position includes 80% teaching/administration and 20% professional development. Professional development time is typically used for research. In addition to teaching and research, the position includes teaching-related administration as well as staff, subject, and planning meetings. Eligibility Requirements for Appointment as University Lecturer To be eligible for appointment as a university lecturer, one must have demonstrated pedagogical skill and have completed a doctorate in the educational science field with a focus on textile craft (for example, pedagogical work, didactics), or have equivalent scientific competence, or have some other professional skill that is significant considering the subject content of the position and the work tasks to be included in the employment. Good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written, and the ability to teach in this language is required for the position.
