What we offer you Nyströmska is an education center centrally located in Söderköping with students in upper secondary school, adapted upper secondary school, adapted primary school grades 7-9 and adult education. The school has an engaged staff team where many have worked for a long time. We are now seeking a substitute special education teacher specializing in intellectual disabilities to join our team with responsibility for teaching subject areas for our students in the adapted upper secondary school's individual program. We prioritize knowledge and education and our goal is for our students to develop as far as possible based on their capabilities. With the motto "Close to you. Always." the focus at Nyströmska is to see each student, to help them grow as individuals together and prepare them for their future. Within the adapted school, we currently have 10 students in the Health, Care and Welfare program and 4 students in grades 2 and 4 in the individual program. In adapted primary school grades 7-9, there are currently 18 students studying subject areas or subject-focused tracks. You will be part of the adapted upper secondary school team The school has several experienced colleagues in adapted education, as well as a development teacher specializing in adapted education from primary school to adult education. The school has an engaged student support team consisting of principals, special education teachers/special educators, study and career counselors, counselors and school nurses Job Description The position includes independent planning, teaching and assessment within all subject areas of the adapted upper secondary school. You will also serve as a mentor. You are well familiar with the school's governing documents and work based on student needs and interests, individually as well as together with your colleagues. Your teaching is creative and aims to find strategies to strengthen your students, both academically and in their personal development. It is important to you to create conditions for good social interaction among students. In your professional role, you are also expected to be able to collaborate with other professionals and guardians, always with the student's best interest in focus. Qualifications We are seeking someone who is a certified teacher with a special education degree, specializing in intellectual disabilities, with a teaching or preschool teaching qualification as your foundation. You have experience working in adapted education, knowledge of students with intellectual and neuropsychiatric disabilities and the pedagogical tools needed to support them. You are well familiar with alternative and augmentative communication such as TAKK and we see it as an asset if you can sign language. You are an experienced user of assistive technology and have worked with making lesson content accessible, for example with visual supports. We are seeking someone equipped with good social competence and collaboration skills. You are creative, flexible and attentive to students' individual capabilities. You create engagement and participation for both colleagues and students. It is required that you are calm and pedagogical with great patience and good ability to create security for each student.
