The Legal Unit is a central function for the agency's legal work and is led by the Chief Legal Counsel together with two assistant unit heads. Approximately 20 lawyers work here providing legal support to the entire organization. The unit is located within the Business Support Department.
We work together, share knowledge, and support each other in daily work, always with colleagues nearby to discuss questions and decisions.
The Board of Agriculture is responsible for matters including environmental and plant protection, animal and disease control, crisis preparedness, civil defense, and the EU's Common Agricultural Policy. This involves varied legal questions within areas such as administrative law, EU law, freedom of information and confidentiality legislation, IT law, and other legislation within the agency's areas of responsibility.
We are now seeking several lawyers with interest in one or both of the following focus areas.

WORK TASKS
Focus Area 1 - Legal support within EU subsidy administration
In this focus area, you work closely with the operations providing legal guidance related to the handling of subsidies regulated by EU law. The focus is on developing and ensuring quality in routines, processes, and methods where legal requirements and legal certainty are a natural starting point, rather than handling individual cases. Together with relevant departments, you work toward efficient, legally secure, and appropriate processes.
An important part of the role is to support and strengthen operations through training and guidance within areas such as administrative law, handling and application of EU subsidy regulations. You also play an important role in advancing issues and contributing to the development and improvement of operations' working methods and handling processes.
The work may include:
• providing legal support to staff and managers on matters of handling and application of regulations
• training and guiding case handlers in administrative law and EU subsidy administration
• working with guidance, routines, and process and method development
• conducting legal investigations and legal analyses
• conducting quality reviews of decisions, routines, and other legal documents
• participating in development work related to EU subsidy handling and administration.
Focus Area 2 - Government assignments, projects, and regulatory development
In this focus area, you primarily work with government assignments, projects, and development work within the EU's Common Agricultural Policy and other areas of the Board of Agriculture's operations.
The work includes, among other things, closely collaborating with relevant departments to prepare and review submissions to the government, including legislative proposals and other legal documents. You also support operations with complex legal questions and development projects.
The work may include:
• participating in and driving legal work within government assignments and projects
• preparing and reviewing legislative proposals
• conducting legal investigations and legal analyses
• providing legal support on matters related to the EU's Common Agricultural Policy
• conducting quality reviews of regulations, contracts, and decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Regardless of focus area, you work as legal counsel at the legal unit. The role involves close collaboration with other operations and particular responsibility for being well-informed about the Board of Agriculture's mission and various policy considerations.
As legal counsel, you contribute to strengthening legal certainty and developing operations through qualified legal support. The work is varied and encompasses both strategic and operational questions. It can periodically involve high pace and tight deadlines.
In your application, you are welcome to indicate which of the two focus areas interests you most, or if you are interested in both.
We are looking for someone who:
• holds a Swedish legal candidate degree or law degree (180 points/270 higher education credits),
• is a notary or has equivalent experience in legal work.
We consider it meritious if you have experience with EU law, administrative law, or experience providing legal support.

Placement location is Jönköping with the opportunity to work remotely several days per week when work permits.
