About the Position Are you passionate about young people's wellbeing? Do you want to work at a high school with a Christian profile? If so, the role of school counselor at LM Engström gymnasium might be perfect for you! As a school counselor with us, you have an important and rewarding assignment. You are part of the school's student health team (EHT). Your primary task is to advance psychosocial work. You work in health promotion, prevention, and outreach. The goal is to create a safe and stimulating learning environment for all students. Our students need support in managing life's balance, relationships, existential questions, and much more as they transition into adulthood. Your main responsibilities include: • Support Conversations: Offer individual counseling, crisis support, and guidance to students. • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, school leadership, school nurse, special education coordinator, and guardians. • Group Activities: Lead values-based work and prevent bullying, while also contributing to the school's Christian profile by raising questions about self-worth beyond academic performance. • Consultation: Serve as a psychosocial sounding board for school staff. • External Contacts: Connect the school with social services, BUP, and other authorities. Who Are You? We're looking for someone who is confident in their professional role and has a big heart for young people. You are skilled at listening and building trusting relationships. Since you collaborate with many different parties, your communication skills are essential. This is a substitute/temporary position. Start date: January 2027. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis during the application period. About the School LM Engström gymnasium is an independent high school with a Christian profile in the Swedish Church's spiritual tradition. The school is overseen by the Peter Isaac Béens Educational Foundation, a non-profit organization. The school is located in central Gothenburg with the city's vibrant life right at its doorstep. The historic buildings have previously been used by Gothenburg's oldest high school and as a residence for the Bishop of Gothenburg Diocese. The cathedral—where the school's students and staff gather every week—is just a short walk away. The school has approximately 600 students enrolled in one of four programs offered: economics, arts, natural sciences, and social sciences. The school is a popular choice for many students, meaning not all who wish to attend can be offered a place. The staff consists of approximately 60 people, with the vast majority being teachers.
