About the role
As a unit manager, you are responsible for:
Establishing and developing the unit and ensuring efficient and lawful case handling of high quality.
Creating structures and working methods for the new operation, including routines, processes and quality assurance work.
Planning and leading the unit's work both in the long term and in daily operations.
Following up on the unit's goals and contributing to the authority's overall development.
Supporting employees and creating a culture characterized by collaboration, responsibility, commitment and pioneer spirit.
Approximately 10 people will work in the unit. The case handlers have long experience of case handling at the authority, but the investigators are a new personnel category being recruited in parallel with this recruitment specifically for this unit. The authority also has a subject manager for these reviews.
You work closely with the authority's subject manager and two other unit managers, and you report to the administrative manager.
Who are you?
You have:
Several years of management experience with responsibility for personnel and operations.
Work experience from public sector activities and a very good understanding of public administration.
Relevant academic degree, for example in medicine, pharmacy, biomedicine or similar.
Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
The following are meritorious:
Experience in building new operations or developing processes.
Research experience or work close to research environments.
Knowledge of regulatory processes in the pharmaceutical field.
Knowledge of ethics review of research.

Location: Uppsala. You have the opportunity to arrange with your nearest manager to perform the work remotely a number of days per week. You also have the opportunity to work part of the time at one of the authority's other offices in the country.

About the Ethics Review AuthorityThe Ethics Review Authority is a national authority with a mandate to review research involving people, biological material or sensitive personal data. The authority was started in 2019 and is located in Uppsala with offices in 5 additional locations in the country. The review is carried out by 500 external members, both scientific members and public representatives, led by 42 judges in a total of 21 departments, where science, ethics and law are combined to promote a responsible research environment in Sweden. The authority's office supports the departments with case handling and more, as well as being responsible for the authority's other administration. The office has approximately 30 employees. Most are case handlers, but there is also a scientific coordinator, chief legal officer, subject manager, economic manager, case handling managers and statistical manager.
