Veterinarian

We invite a veterinarian to join our team! If you are passionate about working with various animal species and want to use your professional experience in a unique environment, join the Veterinary Department of Riga National Zoo. You will have the opportunity to care for animal health, work alongside experienced colleagues, and engage in professional development both in Latvia and in an international setting. You will be responsible for: providing healthcare, preventive measures, and treatment for zoo animals; performing animal diagnostics, treatment, and veterinary procedures; participating in animal health monitoring and welfare assurance; maintaining veterinary documentation and medication inventory records in accordance with regulatory requirements; collaborating with colleagues and, when necessary, with supervisory institutions and international partners. We expect: higher education in veterinary medicine; authorization to practice veterinary medicine in the Republic of Latvia in accordance with the Veterinary Medicine Law; preferably at least 2 years of practical work experience as a veterinarian; excellent knowledge of Latvian; good knowledge of English for professional collaboration in an international environment; good skills in working with MS Office applications; high sense of responsibility, accuracy, and ability to make professional decisions; interest in working with exotic and wild animals (previous experience will be considered an advantage). We offer: work in a unique and historic location – Riga National Zoo; salary of EUR 1800–2000 gross per month; full-time employment with shift work schedule (working hours 8:30 – 17:00); dynamic and diverse work with various animal species; professional development and training opportunities; opportunity to participate in international collaboration projects; sustainable social support provision (health insurance and accident insurance after probation period, additional vacation days, financial support in significant life situations, and other collective agreement benefits).
