Jamtli is now seeking an Executive Director/County Antiquarian Jamtli is the museum of Jämtland region, one of the region's largest tourist destinations and one of Sweden's leading regional cultural institutions with approximately 200,000 visitors annually. The public operations include the Regional Museum with permanent and temporary exhibitions, an extensive open-air museum, and Nationalmuseum Jamtli, where the National Museum conducts operations in close collaboration with Jamtli. Founders are Region Jämtland Härjedalen, Östersund Municipality, Heimbygda (regional heritage association in Jämtland Härjedalen), and Jämtland Arts Association. The foundation also operates subsidiaries that run activities at Teknikland, Härjedalen Mountain Museum in Funäsdalen, Geopark Indalsälven in Ragunda, and the Nordic Center for Cultural Heritage Pedagogy, which develops Jamtli's specialized expertise in cultural heritage pedagogy at Nordic and European levels. Jamtli maintains extensive collections, archives, and libraries. Particularly significant are the textile and photographic collections. Through its various activities encompassing archaeology, building conservation, cultural heritage preservation, art, and education, the foundation conducts public education and extensive regional activities. Approximately half of the organization's revenue is financed through own income from admissions, sales, commissioned work, projects, and collaboration agreements. The remainder is financed through state, regional, and municipal grants. Jamtli is a knowledge institution where collections, research, cultural heritage, and public education form the foundation for operations. At the same time, Jamtli is an important engine for the region's tourism industry and attractiveness. Jamtli is now seeking a museum director – CEO and county antiquarian who wants to lead and develop the Jamtli Foundation for the future. At a time when cultural heritage issues are becoming increasingly important in society's development, Jamtli needs to continue being an open, relevant, and credible institution. As museum director, you will have the opportunity to influence how cultural heritage, research, and public education contribute to society's future. The museum director must be able to lead operations through change, address complex societal issues, and safeguard the institution's integrity and mission. As museum director, you lead by creating engagement, leveraging employees' expertise, and building long-term relationships, while making clear decisions and driving operations forward. Job Responsibilities: The museum director is accountable to the Jamtli Foundation's board for overall operations and leads the foundation's long-term development based on the board's goals and decisions. As head of Jamtli, you have overall responsibility for operations, finances, personnel, work environment, and strategic development. You represent the foundation alongside the board chair locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally and develop collaborations with cultural institutions, universities, authorities, business, the tourism industry, and other societal stakeholders. A central part of the assignment is to strengthen Jamtli's role as a cultural institution and the region's largest tourist destination by developing operations, creating new collaborations, and ensuring long-term financial sustainability. Qualifications: We are seeking a confident and development-oriented leader with documented experience leading a large and complex organization. You have: Documented experience in leadership with responsibility for operations, personnel, and finances. An academic degree relevant to the position. Strong business acumen and experience creating long-term sustainable financial results. Ability to combine a strong societal and cultural mission with operations development and financial responsibility. Ability to build, develop, and maintain networks within politics, the cultural sector, tourism, the public sector, and business. Excellent communication and social skills and a natural ability to create trusting and long-term relationships. Experience representing an organization in contacts with political representatives, media, funders, and other external stakeholders. You also have good understanding of research's importance in the museum and cultural heritage field and see the value of leading a knowledge organization where operations are based on research, science, and proven experience. Experience from research environments or research education is meriting but not required. Personal Qualities: We seek a leader who is strategic, empathetic, engaging, clear, and attentive.
