At Södertörn Fire and Rescue Federation, you'll work with some of society's most advanced specialized vehicles and technical systems. Every day, you contribute to ensuring our firefighters have reliable vehicles and equipment when the alarm sounds.
We're now looking for a workshop technician who wants to be part of our dedicated workshop team.
About the Position
As a workshop technician with us, you'll be part of a team of three technicians who together are responsible for service, maintenance, and development of the federation's broad fleet of vehicles and machinery.
The work is varied and includes everything from traditional mechanical work on older machines to advanced troubleshooting of electronics and control systems. No two days are the same – one day you might work on a heavy rescue vehicle and the next day on a boat, a motorized pump, or installation of new technical equipment.
You will work with, among other things:
Service and repair of heavy and light rescue vehicles and passenger cars
Troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and hydraulic systems
Troubleshooting and repair of electronics and control systems
Diagnostic work with diagnostic tools
Installation and maintenance of vehicle electrical systems, CAN-bus, charging systems, communication equipment, and blue light systems
Service of fire pumps, boats, and other rescue equipment
Reconstruction and custom modification of vehicles and equipment
Technical support to operations
Sheet metal work such as welding and metal processing
Who Are You?
We're looking for someone with a strong technical interest who enjoys solving problems. You like varied work tasks and are motivated by working in an operation where your work has a direct impact on society's safety.
You are responsible, thorough, and work well in collaboration, while also being able to work independently and take initiative.
We're looking for someone who has
Vehicle technical education or other equivalent education
Experience with service, maintenance, and repair of vehicles, machinery, or other technical equipment
Good knowledge of mechanics, hydraulics, and vehicle electrical systems
Experience troubleshooting with diagnostic tools and digital systems
Good computer skills
Driver's License Category B
It is an advantage if you also have experience with:
Heavy vehicles
Rescue vehicles or other specialized vehicles
Construction machinery or agricultural machinery
Marine technology or boat engines
Hydraulics and pneumatics
Welding and metal processing
Vehicle electronics, CAN-bus, and control systems
Installation of communication equipment, blue light systems, or other vehicle electronics
Category C or CE driver's license

We use test tools and competency-based interviews in our recruitment process. To objectively examine your ability to act in different situations, we ask you to complete a personality and problem-solving test before any potential interview.
Terms of Employment
This is a permanent position with a 6-month probationary period. Start date by agreement. Your workplace is at the fire station in Haninge where our workshop is located.
