We are now recruiting a workshop manager for our technical department at Scenkonst Västernorrland. The technical department at Scenkonst Västernorrland consists of 18 people. What does the role involve? As workshop manager, you are responsible for the design, manufacturing, and delivery of sets for our productions in dance, theater, and music. You manufacture sets, plan and lead the work in the workshop, and ensure that productions are completed within agreed time, budget, and quality frameworks. The role involves close collaboration with the technical director, technicians, stage managers, artistic teams, and external suppliers. You participate in meetings necessary for the operations and contribute your expertise to ensure that artistic ideas can be realized in a safe, sustainable, and efficient manner. You are responsible for estimating time requirements, material needs, and resources for set construction, as well as planning and distributing work in the workshop. The role also includes responsibility for workshop equipment, machinery, organization, maintenance, and safety in the Sundsvall workshop. You manage procurement within allocated budgets and assist in preparing investment proposals for the workshop. When needed, you recruit and supervise temporary staff, such as set painters, blacksmiths, and carpenters. The role also includes transportation duties. What is important for the role? We are looking for someone with experience in carpentry, set production, and workshop work. You have strong abilities to plan, organize, and lead work in a production environment where multiple projects run in parallel. Experience in work supervision and budget responsibility is a merit. You have good technical understanding and experience translating drawings and ideas into finished solutions. You work in a structured manner, are solution-oriented, and have a strong safety awareness. Since the work involves close collaboration with many different professional groups, you are communicative and enjoy working together with others. You have knowledge of the Office suite and are accustomed to switching between different systems and programs. A B driver's license is required, but we would prefer that you also have a BE driver's license. Start date in fall 2026 or by agreement.
