About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating existing ones, and expanding our operations. We are the government agency responsible for prisons, probation services, remand detention facilities, and prisoner transport. Job Description As a legal counsel in the Legal Affairs Section – Enforcement, Criminal Law, etc. – you will provide legal advice to the agency's management and to other parts of the organization on matters related to enforcement legislation, criminal law, procedural law, and related issues. You will continuously provide legal support in change and development processes and will also contribute to legal governance within the agency. Your responsibilities also include reviewing and monitoring the agency's regulations, general advice, and other governing documents. You will prepare and present the agency's responses to consultations and develop proposals for statements to, among others, the Parliamentary Ombudsman and the Chancellor of Justice. Your work may also include preparing recommendations for legislative changes to the government. You will provide support in legal proceedings, represent the Swedish Prison and Probation Service in court, and make decisions in certain compensation and damages cases. Work as a legal counsel is independent and varied. The role involves ongoing contacts with, among others, the Government Offices, other agencies, and other parts of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. There are good opportunities for remote work of up to 60 percent depending on individual circumstances. The position can be located in Malmö, Gothenburg, Stockholm, or Norrköping. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is analytical and has the ability to identify solutions to complex issues. You have good judgment and make sound decisions even in situations where multiple interests or perspectives need to be considered. You are responsive, communicative, and enjoy working together with others.
