The Role of Business Development Manager
As a business development manager, you work at the intersection of business development, change management and sales development. You have a central role in developing, implementing and following up working methods, processes and support that help strengthen the sales organization's ability to achieve set goals.
In the role, you work closely with the sales organization and other parts of the business to identify development opportunities, create effective working methods and ensure that processes, tools and system support are used appropriately.
You drive development initiatives throughout the entire lifecycle, from analysis and needs assessment to implementation, deployment and follow-up. An important part of the role is to analyze the business's processes, tools and system support to identify areas for improvement that contribute to increased goal achievement and business value.
You are also responsible for:
supporting the sales organization on matters relating to processes, system support and skills development.
evaluating and developing support tools used within the Sales organization.
developing relevant key metrics and contributing to monitoring and analysis of sales work
facilitating workshops and meetings to gather needs, ideas and perspectives from the business
driving change efforts by initiating, leading, training, implementing and following up development projects
developing decision-making documentation and analyses to support sales management
being a driving force in business analysis and operational planning work
What Do You Bring to the Role?
We are looking for someone with a development-oriented and proactive approach who enjoys a role where you can combine analysis, structure and collaboration with many different parts of the organization.
You are used to working consultatively and cross-functionally and have the ability to create engagement around new working methods, tools and processes. Through your structured working approach and your communication skills, you can lead dialogues, facilitate workshops and translate the business's needs into concrete solutions.
To succeed in the role, we believe you have:
experience from consultative assignments focused on business development
experience driving and leading change projects
practical experience in sales or sales management
experience developing and implementing strategies
good ability to analyze sales data and key metrics
Experience driving skills development initiatives within sales and contributing to developing a culture characterized by learning and continuous improvement
very good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
experience with CRM systems and other sales support tools
ability to create and drive cross-functional collaboration
A degree in economics, engineering/technical field or other relevant education deemed equivalent.
As a person, you are analytical and strategic with strong business acumen. You are communicative, relationship-building and find it easy to collaborate with different functions and levels in the organization.
