The Children and Youth Department is responsible for preschools, preschool classes, elementary schools, adapted elementary schools and after-school centers. The operations consist of 28 preschools, 17 elementary schools of which three are upper secondary schools, one school is F-9 and the remaining schools are F-6. Two of the elementary schools also have adapted elementary schools. With commitment, openness and respect, we together shape preschools and schools of high quality. In the municipality building, we work activity-based and we share premises with other departments. The workplace is located in central Alingsås within walking and cycling distance to many meeting places, Alingsås station and the city's vibrant center with restaurants, cafés and shopping. As a manager in Alingsås municipality, you participate in our leadership development program which includes the leadership training courses Developmental Leadership (UL), Indirect Leadership (IL) and Development, Group, Leadership (UGL). DUTIES You are part of the management team for the Children and Youth Department which with combined expertise manages and leads the department so that the operations' goals are achieved. The management team consists of three operations managers, an administrative manager, two operations developers and a department manager. You are responsible for and lead the department's F-6 operations, including after-school centers, are the manager of the principals within the operations area and coordinate your operations area with the other operations managers in a 1-16-year perspective. The Children and Youth Department is in a phase of strong development where we continuously work to create good conditions for our units, a good working environment for all our employees and systematic quality work where high goal attainment and equity are in focus. Among the development areas we are working on right now are initiatives for developing mathematics instruction, equitable after-school centers, competence supply and the national professional program, AI as a tool for our educators and to increase student attendance. As an operations manager, you lead strategic development processes both independently and together with other functions in the department's management group. As operations manager, you provide support to the department manager and school principal in assisting the principal authority in the form of the Children and Youth Committee. Together with others in the management group, you implement the decisions the committee makes and the strategic direction that has been jointly indicated. You coordinate and support the principals within the operations area in their responsibility for operations, finances and personnel. As an operations manager, you are also active in cross-municipal cooperation together with colleagues in the municipality's other departments. You lead your employees and your operations area through clear, trust-based and present leadership and as an operations manager you are responsible for your operations, your employees, union cooperation and the total finances within your area. You are expected to lead through distributed and developmental leadership that engages and utilizes the department's combined expertise. Your work developing education is based on scientific foundation and proven experience. QUALIFICATIONS You have: • extensive experience in the role of principal • teacher certification, preferably with eligibility within elementary school or after-school care, but other teacher qualifications can also be considered to meet the requirements • completed principal training It is a merit if you have experience of: • leading managers • strategic work in management groups • school development, organization and leadership on a scientific basis • work in a politically governed organization or operation • work in safety committees and union cooperation We are looking for you who are driven by creating the best possible conditions for children and young people and have the ability to combine children's and students' perspectives with the operations' mission and goals. You are a confident and mature leader who creates trust, engagement and participation. Through good cooperation skills, you build strong relationships and actively contribute to well-functioning management work. You have a good overall perspective, understand your role in the chain of command and look to the entire operation's benefit in decisions and actions. At the same time, you have a strategic approach and the ability to convert long-term goals into concrete results. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
